Tarrytown House Estate is a delight. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the food options are excellent. We enjoyed the pool and sauna as well. The only complain is that the plumbing for the toilets needs to be updated. The toilet flushes very slowly and you have to hold down the flusher for a long time. A minor annoyance but just for guests to know. Everything else was great!

Not for everyone
If mobility is an issue this may not be a great choice. There are a lot of steps and landings which meant we needed a bell hop to handle our luggage — the parking lot was not close to the entrance. The sidewalks and driveways are uneven, and surface right in front of the main entrance has 2 deep potholes. That said, I’ve stayed here a few times — it’s a beautiful estate and quiet

Very beautiful area. The rooms are a little worn down but clean. Unfortunately our run was I’ve cold with no heat on. We turned it on but it took hours before it started getting warm. We had to change rooms because the heater was banging incredibly loud. The second room had the same problem. There was no hot water at night. I assume to save money and to be eco friendly. In the morning, it took 5 minutes to get hot water.

No hot water to shower
Two mornings in a row out of my 3 night stay I had no hot water to shower in the Putnam building in the morning. The water was barely tepid after letting it run for 25 minutes each time. What a waste of water and terrible morning experience.

I stayed here in October for a few days with a group of friends for the Halloween season. This place was exactly what we wanted even though it was a bit far from all the festivities (way too far to walk but short uber rides). The grounds are beautiful and our room was clean and spacious with a lovely window seat. Check-in was easy and the staff was very nice and helpful. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely stay here again!

Great place to spend Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Dinner at Goosefeathers was amazing and the kind man at Registrstion was wonderful. He comped our breakfast the next day -- just to be nice because it was a holiday! Unique hotel on beautiful grounds with amazing facilities. I highly recommend this place as a family getaway.

This was such a bummer. We took a chance despite the middling reviews because we love historic hotels, but the reviews were right. I would not recommend the King mansion rooms. The building is not being properly maintained and is kind of sad. The room is shoddily "restored " and furnished, and the bathroom is straight up gross. So many questions: The room is enormous so why is the bed not a king? Why are there no rugs beside the bed? Why is all the furniture the cheapest sub-Ikea quality? Why are all the lightbulbs daylight so that it feels like a weird hospital not a cozy historic hotel? It's clear that every corner is cut here and the image of the historic building is used without much care for the actual building. Second floor mansion rooms do hear the restaurant music through the floor until 10 pm then it quiets down. Positives: The balcony is huge and the view is lovely. The room was clean, so it's not a staff issue. The restaurant downstairs was gorgeous and very tasty, if expensive.
