We had a lovely stay. The hotel room was ample, with furnishings catering to our needs. The view from our window over the cathedral was spectacular, and we appreciated the hotel's centrality; we could pop in and out as we needed. The price of the breakfast was a little steep; we only indulged once, but would have liked to more: there was a good range of healthy options available. I was really sorry to leave this excellent accommodation at the end of our holiday.
We paid £15.50 each for a full englush breakfast. We came down at 9am. The scrambled egg tasted terrible. All the breakfast was cold. For this amount of money it was i feel this was very poor

Disliked: Amenities
I liked nothing about this hotel apart from the location. It is extremely dated and the service is poor. Not recommended!
The first room was in poor condition. They moved us.The 2nd was better. However the mattress did not go all the way to the headboard and couldn't be moved. The gap meant the extremely soft pillows slipped into the gap. So no pillow or move down the bed and hang your feet over the edge.

Dated but very comfortable. Only minor complaint/observation was that there were no USB connections in the room and reception had no adaptors. In this day and age the double outlet in the room could be upgraded to include USB at minima;l cost,
It was Okay! Breakfast was very nice! Beds were lovely, and comfortable.
Everything else was acceptable, but nothing special. Decor and furniture rather dated !
Noisy outside. Quite expensive both for room only and for breakfast! Also had to pay for parking!!
Good value for money and situated right next to the cathedral. Not the most attractive externally though.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Friendly, helpful front of house staff
The location is superb. The room furnishings tired but comfortable. Reception staff were excellent with local advice. Breakfast service and buffet range brilliant. House kerping poor. My bed was never made over 4 days, the body wash ran out and wasn't replaced, my towels were replaced daily which l didn’t require and the coffe/ tea rooms supplies a bit haphazard.
Rooms very small but manager found us something larger,
Breakfast far too expensive for three of us on business trip so off to Weatherspoons we went. Convenient position for restaurants and shopping.

Great location, friendly, welcoming reception staff. Nice size room with a lovely view of the Cathedral. Room was a bit tired and could do with a bit of updating, especially the bathroom but was adequate for our needs.

Unfortunately both my husband and I were quite shocked at how dated this hotel was. The room we were staying in resembled a nursing home with really old dated dark furniture and an old people’s arm chair in the corner. The halls of the hotel are similar to a 1980s office building with all the room doors in dark wood that’s all scuffed. On a positive note the bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep and location is good but definitely not worth the £148 which we paid for a standard double room with parking. We wouldn’t stay again.
Interesting stay. The common areas are lovely, although parts need better upkeep, for example there was rubbish under chairs in the upstairs seating area for over 12 hours. The breakfast is not worth the money, and the scrambled eggs were extremely salty to the point of being inedible, this was rectified and the guy hosting was helpful but it was obviously not a favourite as we were the only ones eating there. The room itself needed help. The bit we were put in felt like a hostel. Very much! Not fancy at all. Bathroom needed better cleaning and updating, there was a mini bar fridge switched off and mouldy! I couldn’t sleep well as the sheets were scratchy, pillows awful and the noise from others tvs very loud. Honestly I expected more from such a fabulous hotel location. Wouldn’t stay again.
