The family room was good and the kids loved the bunk beds. But the room was at the front of the property and so was pretty noisy even on a Sunday. Breakfast in the morning was tasty with a good view over the lake. We didn't park in the hotel car park but on Glebe Road which was a fifth of the price.

Lovely hotel, fantastic location

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. My room was gorgeous and had the best nights sleep I’ve had in years, as the room is sound proofed. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Just a few things to be aware of. This hotel is quite expensive to book, and it’s a little cheeky they charge an Additional cost for parking, £25 for the night. It does not have aircon so is quite warm. The food and drink are overpriced. (Recommend going elsewhere) However, it is a lovely hotel and you can’t beat the location

So firstly on a positive the location is great. On arrival we asked if we could park & we’re told we must pay an extra £25 for the hotel car park despite not valet involved, we brought our bags inside & walked back in the rain. It wasn’t far but still not expected. We had to pay on the spot. Check in was 16:00 which didn’t really bother us as we were out to celebrate for our anniversary. We arrived back at the hotel around 7pm to no bags in the room and a very hot humid room, no phone in the room either to order a room service / for emergency. It was a really disappointing and cl

Location a big plus for this hotel. At over £200 per night it’s well overpriced for what it is. It has a spa and pool which was a big reason why we booked this vs other hotels but after booking got a mail about stay advising kids not allowed in pool after 5pm which was around when we arrived. Mailed hotel about this before arrival but no reply. Breakfast ok but not fantastic, service a little slow. No air con in room, tv not great and £25 for over night parking!

Superb location

The hotel's location is superb - with a great view over Windermere and within walking distance of restaurants, pubs and tings to do. While in need of investment, the room we had was clean and in good condition and the restaurant was too. The swimming pool and leisure facilities were very good. Some staff were excellent and very friendly but a few were less so/

I have been here before and although the prices increase the.hotel is getting tired. Sandra and the other lady on reception like before were exceptional but its a shame the bar staff and restaurant are not so good. The views make this hotel but its dated and the windows need cleaning. Breakfast took over 15 minutes to be shown to our seat and the fruit and pastries were empty and no glasses with very little juice. Breakfast was delivered ok but not the best. I dont like giving bad reviews but value for money it rates a 4/10. Also £25 to park which is overpwiced as well.

The booking Inn was excellent the woman at the front desk was excellent very comfortable with a we actually got in early due to the room being ready which we did not expect the room was very big and the bed which I expected the shower tray add a big brown stain on it which I thought it hadn't been cleaned correctly the shower hose whilst damaged I reported this the breakfast was not to standard the waiters looked very untidy the evening meal I did not enjoy at all to say how much I paid for the meal not very good at all I'm sorry but it was not what I expected in McDonald's ins I have been up north and down South and stayed in the inns but this one let the side down 👎

Charming Escape in the Heart of the Lakes

We recently spent three nights at The Mcdonald Hotel during a short getaway to the Lake District, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth — the kind that immediately sets the tone for a relaxing, memorable break. The Room: We stayed in one of their lake-facing rooms, and waking up each morning to that view? Absolutely dreamy. The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with soft, calming tones, and had just the right blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The Food: Breakfast each morning was a treat. A choice of hearty Cumbrian classics or lighter options, all made fresh and served in the loveldining room with views of the water. We especially loved the perfect poached eggs. The Location: The Hotel is perfectly situated — tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded, but still within easy walking distance to the local shops and tourist areas and some incredible walking trails. We spent our days hiking, boating, and wandering through quaint villages with just the right number of tea shops and pubs. The hotel staff were also brilliant with local recommendations — they pointed us to a hidden trail that led to one of the best views we’ve

The room was spacious and clean, it was way too hot-the noise from the kitchen below was unbearable, constant droning from there and deliveries start at 6am, 2 nights without sleep isnt good. First day breakfast was incorrect and inedible, second day despite asking twice we we didnt even get breakfast - a pot of tea turned up made with cold water, how can you get it so wrong?? The reception staff were very professional, kitchen and waiting on staff were untrained, impolite and looked lost. One guy with short grey hair and glasses deserves credit as he was the only one who looked like he wanted to work there. Avoid at all costs.
