Ok, my opinion is swayed as this was my first time back in my home town for 30 years. But despite that biased opinion, reception was quick, fuss free and professional. Room was clean, very functional I'd say. (Polite way of saying not a lot there) But clean and comfortable. I guess we're used to tea and coffee facilities in the uk. Food and beer we're great, some staff spoken english but once I bust out the German they really opened up! Superb grounds to wander about in of an evening too. Breakfast was just like and other euro breakfast, no issues. Didnt use the pool so can't comment. Plan on returning

My wife spotted this hotel - it was a the same price as a couple I had seen, but the reviews were better and it didn't disappoint. Super breakfast, helpful staff, air-conditioned, well maintained and a great location just a 15 minute walk fro the station / cathedral. We saw the hotels I had identified on-line which were on top of busy roads, and we were so pleased we stayed here.

Clean room

The guy at reception was great - helped us check in early and upgrade our room at no cost. The building and room themselves are clean, but extremely dated. I would equate it to a cheap motel in America. Hotel is located in a good spot of Cologne that is very walkable. Unfortunately we did end up switching hotels within a few hours of checking in because there is no AC. The hotel cannot control the heat wave that came through Europe, but man it was so incredibly unbearable to even stand in the building, let alone sleep. Cancellation policy is no refund at all even if you are cancelling additional nights in advance unfortunately. No parking available at all like the listing says. There is a parking garage close to the cathedral that worked out well for us. About 24 euro for 24 hour parking. They do not provide any toiletries like most hotels. No shampoo or body soap (and of course no conditioner since it’s not a thing in Europe).

No parking. We had to park blocks away in a paid parkade that was expensive. Came for the pool but didn’t get a chance to enjoy due to our lateness, as well you have to pay extra for access to it which was not worth the 1-2 hours of potential enjoyment that we could’ve had. We also did not feel that safe in this area of the city where the hotel was. A lot of graffiti everywhere. What appeared to be the ?homeless consuming drugs during our walk from the parkade. I would not come to this hotel again.

I was a little worried as it was one of the least expensive hotels I could find in Cologne but I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is only about an 8 min. walk from the main train station and about a 2-3 minute walk from the Heumarkt where you have many amazing options for meals. We had a courtyard view from our room which was pleasantly quiet so I can't give my opinion on how loud or quiet a street facing room would be. The hotel was very clean and seemed well maintained. The staff were very friendly. If you are a smoker there is a small patio in the courtyard where you can sit. Our room was quite nice especially the bathroom. If I were going to complain about anything it would be that there is no coffee maker in the room and the mini fridge is full of beverages you can buy so if you want to put your own food or drinks in the fridge there really isn't room. I can't give an opinion on breakfast as we went out to eat instead. Overall it was a surprisingly great stay (considering the price per night) and I will gladly stay here again if/when I come back to Cologne!

Service and cleanliness were great but it would be better if there’s a microwave.

Nice pool/spa area. At times it feels lime a maze but the Palace is beautiful. Note that it isn't isolated. You're in a suburban area really, with grocery stores and more affordable restaurants. Great venue for a wedding
