Check in was very easy. The location is great! Never saw anyone the entire time there. The only minor suggestion is a tv channel guide. Also, having the front door unlocked all night made me a little nervous.
The hotel staff were nice and very polite the only upset I had was no bar and grill to eat at as they were closed for renovations and we did not know until we arrived. other than that I would definitely go back again .
Couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was exactly what I was looking for. Super quiet, ultra clean and safe. I would highly recommend this spot especially for those who are looking for something low key and oh by the way there is a library directly across the street. Look forward to a return visit. Tim H
Nowhere there to check in, I had to ring the manager who pointed me to a lock box outside with the key to my room in it. I got to my room and someone had obviously been sitting in the bed as one side of the pillows was all flat and scrunched 😞. Shame as it’s a lovely building and was very clean just run down.

No staff, no AC, no restaurant and leaky faucet.
Disappointed since I have stayed here before and it was better.
7 rooms on 3rd floor of old buiding but easy parking, shops etc. Used as base to drive to Boston. BUT key lockbox did not work when arrived at 7 pm. No staff at anytime but luckily found a guy who gave me a spare key. Lifts dont work.
Hotels.com needs to mention when major amenities are not being offered at a property. There was a restaurant advertised, but it is not there. I have seen this before and it is becoming a problem.
For the shape the room was in, the price was a bit high and there were no amenities to speak of. I think it could be a nice place if the rooms were tended to, and if there are no amenities, the price should be about half of what it was.
I only chose this property for convenience. We were not given the room that I paid for and was given 2 separate rooms so I was separated from my family. Elevator not working, had to walk 3 flights of stairs with elderly and suitcases. Restaurant under renovation, as well that is not mentioned on the listing. My bedroom window was left open therefore my room was filled with stink bugs all over the curtains and climbing the walls. We were then given a different room. No staff on site but Michael was wonderful to give us a new room and apologized for the mix up and the bugs. I was refunded the room which I was grateful for but unfortunately will not return to this property.
This place should be closed down. It is verging on derelict. It needs some serious refurbishment before it is used as a hotel. The corridors are smelly with dirty carpets and stained ceilings. The bedrooms are large but grim. We stayed for one night but considered sleeping in the car! The restaurant had long closed down.

Michael was so helpful and kind when we checked in. Stairs and the carpet, on the way to the room, needed to be vacuumed. The room and bathroom were clean. There was a strong smell of marijuana in the hallway.
Terrible experience and no elevator as you listed.
It says that there is an elevator. It was on the third floor. It was difficult to walk up the stairs due to history of low back injury. I took a photograph that was posted on the elevator saying that is not operational and dange. I request the you refund the fees and credit my credit account soon. I will send a photo of the Warning on the door of the elevator by authorities in Massachusetts. Also I like to add that the smell of insecticide or other form of chemical was extremely bad in the room. I did not sleep all night and had continues headache. I am going to report this to the health authorities in Massachusetts. Please refund what I paid immediately.
Quaint, historic building in a quaint, historic area.
Disappointed to see that the restaurant/ bar was closed due to a poor decision to convert it from a tavern style pub to a shushi restaurant and got halfway thru the renovation and either ran out of money or realized it was a bad idea. It was a classy meeting spot for locals and travelers alike. The room (number 8) was a large corner room overlooking an historic obelisk monument seeing heavy traffic 'til 2 AM. The bed was a delightfully firm queen and quite comfortable. The bathroom is small with little counter space, the '70s toilet hardly flushed, the wall-mounted hair dryer blew less than a baby's breath and smelled like burnt hair and the sink's hot and cold supply lines were backwards. Would we go back again? Only if the tavern/pub was re-established. Seems like a missed opportunity for a goldmine investment.
Property under total renovation, which we did not know. Have stayed here many times and were looking forward to dinner, but everything shut down for renovation. Hopefully they will also renovate the rooms to.
The property was closed and shuttered. There was a note attached to a door in the rear of the building with the phone number to call for a lock box code that would give you entrance to the building, where you could select your room key. In addition to its' shabby appearance as a closed construction site, I felt that it was an unsafe place to stay. I spoke with the manager who said that he was sorry and hoped to complete some renovations soon. Now is not the time to stay there.
The inn is very quaint and charming. There were modern amenities like TV, Wifi, and games, which was nice; and, the room was very spacious. While part of the charm is the historical atmosphere - and as an older building you come to expect some wear and tear - the drain in the sink and shower were really slow and the available outlets were too loose to allow us to charge our devices. But all in all, a very nice place to stay in a scenic area!

The property was clean and everything needed was in the room. It was also not updated in terms of fixtures and finishes, but for what was needed for the stay was fine. There wasn't a front desk, but the instructions for check-in were good and there was both an email message and phone call to make sure the instructions were clear. As part of a building with other businesses, it didn't have the safety measures other places might, which was something to consider if traveling solo.
