The staff were excellent and the resort was well laid out. There was some amazing little intimate spots and overall the atmosphere was excellent for a couple travelling alone. The highlight was the Rauxa restaurant where four local artists put on an amazing acrobatic and aerial show. The negative would be the food. There is plenty of “variety” - Steakhouse, Italian, Asian, International, Mexican and Buffet. There were a couple exceptional dishes I would expect from a resort of this calibre - the Chicken at Mamma Mia and the Mole at the Mexican restaurant among them. But more often than not the offerings fell extremely flat. The filets at the grill were cooked nearly raw on one side and rock hard on the other. The tuna on the appetizer at the Mexican restaurant resembled marbles it had been fried so long. The Alfredo at Mamma Mia was splotchy, floury and the shrimp were gritty. I could go on but there should be enough examples here. If you are looking for a great environment and don’t care much about the food quality then this is the place for you. If food is an important part of the experience for you then you may want to look elsewhere.

The beach was beautiful. All of the staff were friendly especially Quetzabel, the hostess at Palapa and Aurelio, our favorite bartender. The property and rooms were clean though the rooms were lacking some amenities.The food was hit or miss like most resorts. Only two bars were open late. All in all a good value. We would return.

The staff is amazing and beyond friendly. Food is amazing. Beach is amazing. Quieter and smaller than I expected, perfect size. We will be back and highly recommend. Worth the privilege upgrade on our opinion, without would still be great.

This place was incredible!! The property was a great combination of nature & beach paradise! The staff were all very helpful & friendly. The food at all restaurants was delicious, with a great variety to choose from. There was plenty of entertainment, with different themed parties or shows each night. The only downsides were that our room was a little dated, but still very clean & if you want to go off the property to explore, you have to travel 15-30 minutes to get there, which was not that difficult to do. We are definitely going back to this location & would recommend it to anyone looking for a little slice of paradise!!

I had a fantastic time at Catalonia Royal Tulum. Wonderful staff, spacious room. The food was delicious! Beautiful sandy beach. There's different shows at the hotel every evening and you won't be bored. I highly recommend this hotel!

Great beach, staff always helpful. The meals were good, no buffet at dinner though. You have to make reservation through their website for all dinners. Entertainment was nice, dinner at rauxa show was fun.

Staff is amazing, especially the entertainment staff: Diego, Charlie, Tita, puala, Abraham, Nico, Shamed, Quesabella. They are part of the reason why we came for a second time and would cone for more future trips. They are all so engaged and dedicated to the guests. They really look like they enjoy hanging out with the guest and enjoy what they do. Beach area is amazing, didnt have 1 piece of seaweed all week. Food is really good, nightly shows were also really good.

We liked the wide variety of restaurants to choose from for the dinner. The resort is not huge and this helps with keeping it in good conditions. However, we found there were not enough sun beds at the beach which is also small but in great conditions. Food was excellent, even the buffet one!!
