A decent enough hotel that has a good coffee house next door called Doreen Restaurant. A little bit out of the way but it is very easy to get a taxi everywhere. Staff are very obliging and helpful. Bathroom light was a bit dark but ok generally the hotel was good value for the money.

This is a decent place at an affordable price... Good location, on the edge of downtown -- very close to multiple restaurants and grab n' go shops... Modest breakfast buffet, but a very good staff

Nice stayed 7 nights, I love to stay again
The room is spacious, the staff are super friendly and helpful, they answered my enquiry about the place of interest with patience and smile everyday. I have to say Thanks again to all of you, especially the Manager, the Chinese guy and my sweet girl......hug hug !

First impression of the room was pretty good. But because of rain, the room had leaks which made the floor wet. Even after the rain stopped, the walls were still wet. Pretty disgusting. Made it very uncomfortable staying there.

Hard to Judge
It is hard to comment on this facility as we never made it past the elevator. We checked in (everyone was quite pleasant but English was a challenge) and got into the elevator heading for the 10th floor. Fortunately we never got higher than the 4th floor since the elevator failed, the door opened, the elevator dropped, a woman screamed and we watched through the open door as we passed floors quickly passing by on our way down. When the staff got us out the suggested we wait a few hours while repairs were conducted. We elected to leave. The staff suggested another hotel owned by the same person. It was better. We tried emailing Expedia to ask how the move would be billed. It has been 10 days...guess they don't respond if the question is difficult. They abandoned us, I just deleted their App.

Good value for the money
We were here for 3 nights and it served our purposes well since we didn't spend much time in the room. It wasn't the nicest hotel, but that's about on par with the city itself. The hotel staff provided excellent service though! It was a bit noisy so bring earplugs for sleeping.

MGM Not for the Movie Stars
Rangoon is not the most tourist friendly town I have been to and the MGM hotel is also not up there in memorable hotels. Nothing seemed to work, including the internet and the lifts most of the time. Staff seemed helpful, but were ineffectual at actually helping. Cheapish, but I expect not the cheapest. Location average.

Affordable Yangon Accomodation
Considering the cost of hotels in Yangon generally, I found this hotel to be a very good compromise between high end accomodation and backpacker style accomodation. Could not fault the service but found breakfast to be fairly basic when compared to similarly priced hotels in say Thailand for example. Location was good and within an easy walk to city centre.

We stayed in a very spacious room with the room being sparsely furnished but the bathroom looked very new. The cleaning staff was helpful and did their job well. There are a few higher-end restaurants very close to the hotel. A big shopping mall (with a supermarket inside) is about a 10 minute walk.

Bad first impression but....
On arrival I was shocked! The lobby was full of uncouth looking men/women! Looked very like a short term hotel !! The staff seemed to know nothing about my booking and the first rooms I saw were not as shown on the internet. However, after requesting to see more rooms, I finally found one I was satisfied with - Bedding was clean, TV good, fridge, etc and bathroom all good, but much depended depended on which floor!! 11th seemed to be the best - renovated and supposedly non-smoking. The surprise was, by the following day people became friendlier and more helpful, so after 24 hours I began to like the hotel and the people. So, knowing what I do now, I would go back if visiting Yangon again. However, I would certainly request 11th floor!

Nice value for money no frills hotel. I would stay there again. Taxi drivers know where it is. Some distance from CBD - 20 minute walk though on the right side of town for the airport.

You won't get luxury at MGM Hotel. The place looks mighty grungy from the outside and in the reception area. My room on the 8th floor, however, had been renovated relatively recently and was fairly comfortable. The room was kept quite clean by the very friendly housekeeper. The rest of the staff was quite friendly and helpful as well. Shan Yoe Yar restaurant across the street was very good to have nearby. I didn't care much for the breakfast the hotel served, but that's a matter of personal taste.

Note to self: stay there only in dire circumstances. It is a very depressing old-school China-circa-1985 type of place.
