The property is gorgeously renovated. The staff were lovely. Closed sign on door at check in. Fella who answered the phone sounded as if we had interfered and no staff in the morning so there was no continental breakfast available. We noticed as leaving a dark and locked up property that there was cereal, milk and toast available on a hall table - this had not been pointed out during our stay. The restaurant was beautiful, food delicious and staff very attentive. The bed was old and in poor condition - both slept poorly with painful backs in the morning. Location is close to town, but the music played was jazzy - so great atmosphere Would stay again if they change the bed and have staff in morning for breakfast.

Stayed in the ofsite "room". It is actually a 2 bedroom apartment. Spacious, clean, it had everything you need in the room down to pots pans fully kitted out. Comfortable bed in large bedrooms. Maybe 10% dearer than i would expect but it was a long weekend.

Issues from check in - states can check in from 2-5pm. The Peppercorn was closed, found a phone number on the menu in the window - not good enough, details could have been text to us that morning. Stayed in offsite unit - wow, musty on entering, other peoples open milk, food & alcohol in fridge, oven dirty, dishwasher not emptied, broken blind, lots of cobwebs in outdoor area, outdoor table not clean, windows dirty. We were going to have dinner at the Peppercorn Hotel, with the state of the accommodation we didn’t want to give them anymore of our money so went to Country Club Hotel - delicious meal. Extremely disappointing - would NEVER stay there again!!!

The property was comfortable and tidy. When we first arrived, we weren't able to unlock the front door as the lock was stuck. Lucky there was another entrance. There was a lack of cutlery/crockery in the unit, no tea towels to dry dishes, no garbage bags. The beds were very comfortable and the shower nice, however it dripped continuously. Overall it was a comfortable stay, however for a self contained unit, they need to provide more kitchen utensils, etc.

A neatly presented room with modern facilities in a yesteryear setting. Great for access to the rail trail - just across the road. Walkable to shops. Excellent meals - quality ingredients, tasty well above the average pub meal - high restaurant standard.

The property was a great size and spacious for the 3 of us - great for a quick one night stopover. You could tell that it had been surface cleaned but not deep cleaned - there were dead bugs squished on the lamp, dirty marks in the shower, cobwebs on the inside and outside.

I booked my room on line and there was no body there for check-in and sign to say they are closed on Monday and Tuesday!. Called and left message on contact number and got a message after 2 hours to check key box but no keys! Called again and straight to voicemail! Left to find other accommodation.

Our hotel room looked nothing like the picture advertised. Our room was damp, leaking roof, dowdy and very disappointing. Would not recommend and definitely not be staying here again.

This place was one of the best places I’ve stayed. Good quality coffee, soap, shampoos etc. Staff were just amazing and so friendly. The hotel is full of charm and history and the room was furnished to match. We will be back here.

No power. While a blackout from a storm isn’t the owner’s fault, a back up generator should be in place for this. We should not have to pay full price for a blacked out room with no hot water. Outside of this, it was quite lovely.

Stayed Jan 2, noone on site, operated by a lockbox. Storm came through and cut power from 4.30pm till 6.20am following morning. No contact from owners as to our safety. Place was pitch black, including exit light going out about 9.15. Should of at least been offered a torch. Breakfast consisted of warm milk from a fridge unpowered all night and no bread. Highly unsafe in terms of anyone falling or a fire starting. Won't be back.

Rooms were clean. Access up the outside staircase could be improved especially if it was wet. Had no interaction with staff as it was over the Christmas new year period and the pub was closed.

The bed was VERY soft and not very comfortable. Apart from a hook on the door there was no where to hang clothes. Lighting on the back stairs was not working. The back stairs could also benefit from non slip treatment.

The bed was so old and soft it was collapsed in the middle I did not stay and had to find alternative accommodation in town Disgusting expecting people to sleep on that
