Disliked: Staff & service, property conditions & facilities
Stayed in the cabins of Canyon Lodge for 4 days, reserved 2 adjacent cabins. Room Cons: bed sheets too small for the bed, they kept coming off each night; carpets were dirty, stained; room had old musty odor; inside of the front doors on both cabins had some weird splotchy stains on them, no one bothered to clean them; bed sheets had splotchy blood stains in one spot (looks like it was washed but the stain didn’t come out), the blanket had dried up crusty dark gunk on the top portion; asked for housekeeping service twice and twice they said they would send someone and twice they didn’t; asked for an iron at the front desk and the very young gum chewing man had to check their policy—no irons in rooms, if I wanted to use the iron they had, I’d have to bring my clothing item to the main lodge and ask to use housekeeping’s iron (we had a nice dress up dinner to attend at the fancier Lake Dining Room and needed to iron the wrinkles out of my husband’s shirt). Room pros: very large rooms, quiet location, clean bathrooms.
Dining cons: expensive lousy food at the Eatery and the Grill (mushy tasteless rice, bland eggs, mass produced pulled pork lacked flavor, I could go on). Just about everything we tried was terrible.
Dining pros: Roosevelt Lodge and Lake Dining Room are the only places to get a good meal, pricier but at least the food actually tastes like someone knew how to cook. Unfortunately we couldn’t go there every day since both were 30-40 minutes away.
