This is indeed a unique property. Lodging reimagined. We had a suite with four queen sized mattresses truly comfortable bunk style and a separate room with a king bed, and an outdoor balcony. The outdoor space is wonderfully landscaped from the area around the pool to the courtyard adjacent the front with landscaped cactus and a fire pit to warm up the cool desert night. Probably best of all are the people who make up the staff - Tessa Sasha Amber Michelle John Sandra Shayne and others who double as baristas and go out of their way to make sure all the guests needs are met. Field Station takes ordinary accommodations and makes them extraordinary. No quest we will be back.

the front desk that checked us in needs some customer service training. upon arriving 1 hour past our check in time, she informed us our room was not ready with no apology or explanation. “check in at 4 isnt guaranteed. things happen.” ??? once we eventually got int our room, there were single strands of hair in one of the best. sheets were clearly not changed.

I booked a two night stay, it is on a side road away from the main restaurants and shops. A car is essential, which means designated driver cant have a drink! I arrived late having driven in from LA, the check-in desk was in darkness and was not obvious from the road until I walked in and the light came on. The process was pretty straightforward, but I wasn’t told a key detail, the property doesn’t offer daily house keeping. I came back from my day in Joshua tree to damp towels and an unmade bed. One downer was I found a roach in my room after being in Joshua Tree and couldn’t find anyone around to take care of it. I trappped it under a cup for the team to fix this morning. The decor and amenities are really good and worth a stay. But it was let down by the customer service element. All in all, it did the job.

Asked for room with view at check in, was shown a map of property, bypassing my request. Hotel was far from full, would have preferred a mountain view. No coffee maker, ice bucket or even glasses in room. I went to front desk for ice and was given two plastic cups filled. No free black coffee. Also, there were black bugs we saw in our room when we first checked in. Bugs probably got in from desert outside, but there were a lot even on the beds.

Restful stay with a Hot Tub
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by very friendly staff members. They let us know that the hot tub was open til 10 pm. It was late and we were tired but that sounded great! The hot tub was great and we cooled off in the pool, which was equally luxurious.

We are in week two of a multi state trip and this has been my favorite hotel so far! The lobby was inviting, places to relax and grab a snack with a small shop for necessities or gear. Our room was spacious, lots of hooks and flat surfaces to put your bags. The beds were comfortable and had ample bedside table room and plugs. The pool area was large and had plenty of loungers and a hot tub. There is a fire pit area surrounded by chairs for guests to gather for a relaxing evening. I would highly recipe d this hotel.

We were impressed with the design of the facility. The room was spacious with simple, durable, & necessary appointments. We appreciated the double entry doors, and the natural ventilation of the bathroom. Breakfast options were terrific. The main lobby/office, boutique, lounge,cafe was brilliant. The Field Station is a great concept and beautifully executed in Yucca Valley.
