Watch out for extra charges if your room is ready early!! Arriving from the U.S., we had stored our bags there when we arrived early in the morning, but couldn’t check in. We went back when between 11:30 and noon. We learned our room was ready, and she offered to check us in for a fee of 20 francs plus tax. We thought it was weird, but we were delirious from our overnight flight and anxious to lay down, so paid it. Once in our room it dawned on us that it was not typical, so when we went back downstairs, we gave her an opportunity to refund us. But she did not. Checking the website, there’s no mention of a fee -especially since we didn’t request it ahead of time. So be careful not to be taken advantage of if you decide to stay there.

Wonderful stay!

Wonderful stay in Fred! It’s close proximity to the Zurich HB makes everything easy and convenient. There is also a tram station right at the hotel door step. Hotel breakfast is decent and good. Comfy bed and clean rooms. We have chosen Fred when we flew in to zurich and once again, when we flew our from zurich.

As a solo traveller I give this a 5 star rating. The location is perfect beside a park and the swiss museum. All the tours leaving from the bus terminal are a few steps away. The breakfast is delicious. And the rooms albeit small are very clean and nice size bathroom. I would highly recommend for these reasons as well as clise to old town and designer shops.
