Beautiful hotel situated in an excellent location just off La Rambla, with access to tourism, restaurants and markets all by foot. Spa with indoor pool is amazing. Upstairs deck with city views and outdoor pool, dining and bar is superb and stays open till midnight. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and bathroom had a soaking tub. The room did receive strong ambient light from exterior hotel lighting that shown through even the blackout shades. This was worrisome, but the lights do go out at 11 PM. Would certainly stay here again.

Very comfortable room; good shower pressure and excellent mattress. Located very close to Plaza Catalumya so direct bus from Airport or train/metro to Liceu (exit toward Mercator de la. Boqueria. Rooftop is great with a fantastic view and service there and by front desk staff was amazing. Generally, the room was clean but we had two different rooms (first three nights and second for one when we returned to Barcelona before heading home) and in each, garbage had been left in the room under end tables and elsewhere. In the first, we had a different item appear after each night. So overall, a good experience but housekeeping oversight needs to improve.

Great deal for a hotel near La Rambla. Hotel 1898 is true to its name. A beautiful spa plus beautiful rooms. They’re also very sustainable. You feel like you’re sitting in history, but also near culture since La Rambla is right on the corner. It’s also in a safer part of the area. Very crowded but it’s to be expected. We opted out of the daily breakfast and the staff was nice enough to let us have espresso in the morning without paying the breakfast fee. It has beautiful interiors and a lovely rooftop bar. It was a bit windy so we didn’t get to use it at night, but it was great to enjoy your drink on. Don’t expect to check in before 3 PM. And

Really loved the spa here and would recommend this hotel but a bit upset that they chose to be very unaccommodating. I booked a reservation and unfortunately, my flight was delayed and got in the next day. I requested a refund for the day and extended my hotel stay by another day, which meant they truly didn’t lose any money rather than be accommodating they charged me for the day that I wasn’t there and twice I reported seeing roaches in the room. Nothing was offered. Nothing was taken off the bill and for this reason, I was quite upset. It is a lovely hotel the staff and all the concierge were very friendly. The spa is amazing, but the fact that they did nothing to accommodate any of the inconveniences would make me think about staying at the property again. in addition tried to use the bathtub and the stopper didn’t work reported it. No one came up. Needed an iron and additional towels weren’t left. Had to make three calls before they were brought up There is an Excellent ! There is an excellent rooftop with a beautiful view and accommodating cabanas. A $25 definitely wouldn’t recommend their restaurant as the breakfast is extremely limited however, right on the corner is one of the best restaurants called Honest Greens. It is very convenient very walkable safe area easy to catch transportation near public transportation and a great location. However, at this time, I would have to make a recommendation for other hotels in the area that value their guest a bit better.

I have no complaints about this place. We were there during the nationwide power outage on April 28, 2025, and it was the only place on the street with both electricity and internet. It says a lot how good it is.
