Great hotel, friendly people, great location. My only issue was that the room was very small. Maybe my lack of experience with European hotels in general, but it was somewhat claustrophobic for me, even though our room had the patio area. Bed was up against the wall so hard to get into for 2nd person, the bathroom was tiny (couldn't open door all the way as it hit the toilet), and there was nowhere to put toiletries (small sink). But it was still a fair deal (price/location).

Excellent hotel but only some of the rooms
We booked for 4 nights. We were initially checked in to room 219 which was awful. There was no day light; the small window was translucent and opened to a tiny light well. The room was cramped with a double bed and a sofa bed- at least the suitcases could go on this! We asked for a different room and were told this would be possible the next day. Hotel.com also contacted the hotel to request a move and this was handled very efficiently. We slept well and were delighted to move to room 206 the next day. It was a twin room, of a great size with enormous glass doors leading to a balcony on to the street. The rest of our stay was fantastic. The location is perfect and we had breakfast one morning which was excellent. The noise of the Gothic quarter including the Cathedral bells were all part of the experience. We felt the Hotel staff knew we had been given a poor room initially and that moving rooms after one night was not unusual. This is unsatisfactory and I don’t know how anyone can avoid this happening. It appears that booking a twin room increases the chance of getting a bigger room with daylight. We would recommend this hotel but only some of the rooms.

The staff was friendly. When we asked to have our room changed they responded quickly. The room we had the first night faced the street and the noise from outside was terrible. The shouting and music and carrying on did not stop until 6 am. The room we were switched to I’m sure was a converted utility room. The lobby was nice. Has a terrace on the roof which was nice. Breakfast buffet seemed plentiful but we did not eat in the hotel. I don’t think the property was worth what we paid.

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Gotico! The Front Desk staff were friendly and very pleasant! Always up for a chat and very helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance to La Boqueria, La Ramblas, the old cathedral, Barceloneta beach and the metro. Amazing, vibrant location!

Everything was great with the hotel with the exception of our door lock that stopped working suddenly. We were locked out of our room for a long time while it was being repaired. The staff were empathetic but offered no solutions or compensation for the major inconvenience.
