Unfortunately the room was not cleaned prior to our arrival and we had to alert the front desk. We were kindly given an upgrade to a larger room. The larger room was cleaned but I noticed there were things like the floor had crumbs and the ceiling lights had no covers. Beyond the cleanliness issues the staff were exceptionally helpful

Booked a dog-friendly room at this property through Expedia and learned when we arrived that there would be an additional fee (beyond the higher rate we were paying for a dog friendly room). This wasn’t clear in the booking process (or we definitely would have chosen somewhere else to spend nearly $200 for a very tired and small room. The lobby has been renovated. Our room had been partially renovated — not good enough for this price point. They advertised a “great breakfast” which was just so so. We won’t be back.

Worth booking the second floor

I didn’t realize when I booked my room that when it said “ground floor” that it meant it would be motel-style with parking lot access. I also didn’t know that this meant I would be getting a room that was 30+ years older than the rest of the hotel with bad plumbing. Since I was traveling alone on business and not spending a ton of time in the room, I figured I didn’t need to pay extra for a king bed or a room on the second floor. But this is where I was wrong. The rooms with the outdoor access have lino flooring thats not washed every day (time limitations, as shared with me by the manager) and as such, were very dirty. After walking around for a couple minutes, my feet were black. I ended up washing them with a towel and having to wear sandals around the room - not relaxing. The toilet barely flushed and the AC blew right up into the curtain, allowing visibility from the parking lot into my room. All things considered, the bed was comfy and clean sheets so I just went to bed. The next morning, the toilet wouldn’t flush anything down. I called the front desk and the manager showed up right away to try it; flushed again and overflowed. He informed me that the backside of the hotel had bad plumbing and this was a common problem. He also informed me they cannot clean the floors between each guest as it takes hours with their machine. He quickly offered me another room on the second floor which was much nicer. Definitely worth booking the King room (in pics) Really good service.

We found the room to be very noisy with the creaking of the floor upstairs and people honking their horns outside. Then we discovered that the bathtub was backing up, so we didn’t shower for two days because it was so disgusting. We just wanted to get out of there and we were visiting for a memorial and didn’t want any extra problems, so we didn’t say anything. We just won’t be back.

We had to leave a $200 damage deposit. I felt it was expensive for castlegar. Breakfast was nice. Strangest thing of all was signing a wa wavor for no open liquor on the property.
