We reserved through Expedia for a "harbor view" room. When we got to the room, there was no view of anything but roof tops. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, we were told that we only paid for a standard room. Beware that the savings you get on Expedia are not always going to be honored by the hotel. The Frances Marion itself was ok. Clean and a good sized room. Parking is in a separate building, so inconvenient, especially on a rainy day.

Even though it was an old hotel it was very well maintained!! Had an old smell but not terrible! Maybe some air fresheners in the room would be nice! Bed were great and very comfortable!!

It is in an amazing area that is close to lots of shopping and dining options. The park is right across the street. There was a market Saturday morning. It’s so close to many historic tours and the market. The hotel lobby is beautiful. They offer water, coffee, and cookies daily. The rooms are historic in nature. Bathroom was small, but expected for an older building. Very clean though. Starbucks and restaurant on site which is a great option to have.

The Francis Marion Hotel has a great location, right across from Marion Square and on the corner of King and Calhoun Streets downtown. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and efficient. It was a quick process to checkin and out. Housekeeping did a great job as well. The lobby was a comfortable place to wait for friends. The condition of the rooms, however, was only adequate. The furniture is dated and worn down. The rug is definitely past its use-by date. And the bathroom was small with an oddly featured industrial toilet. Water pressure was mediocre. The one positive was that the mattresses appeared new and were quite comfortable. All-in-all, it wasn’t a bad hotel - it was just a bit overpriced for what you get.
