This hotel has been remodelled tastefully by new owners, who are incredibly friendly. The room felt very special with unique fixtures and features. Beds were comfy. Their attitude and kindness made for a great stay. Parking was easy. I recommend highly.

Nice little motel that’s been renovated. Love the beautiful wood finishings on the outside of the building. Since it’s a walk-up, would have appreciated an extra lock or door stopper.

The hotel was renovated, but the room smelled like cigarette smoke. The room was clean, but obviously had not been cleaned enough after someone smoked in the room. The 70’s single pane sliding metal windows had cheap aftermarket locks, that were not secure. The a/c unit although working rattled all night long. The staff was friendly, however I would not stay here again.

I liked this place better when it was Cliffe, as I have had poor leisure and business experience with all Coast properties (excepting the one in Nanaimo which is great). But the rooms are super clean and efficient, the water pressure is amazing, and the parking is superb. So still retains the best of the old Cliffe. I hope that the Coast brand does ruin it.

I’ve never been to a motel room that is this compact (hardly able to get into the bathroom). When the basin faucet turned on, you got splashed and the TV quit in mid programme. In its favour, the shower was very good. In future stays, I’d opt to pay more and stay at a more familiar brand.

Check-in was relatively easy and quick. Staff was very personable and friendly. Parking was readily available right in front of the unit/room. The room amenities were great, including comfortable beds, a microwave, large enough mini fridge and what looked to be a 55" TV. The cleanliness of the room was also to be commended and yes the rainfall shower head with hand held was a very nice feature in the shower. Another mirror in the room itself, other than the one in the bathroom, would be welcome. Also there wasn't an ice bucket in the room, not sure if one isn't provided or if it was just an oversight in the room. Over the three nights there, unfortunately the room was never cleaned/made up due to what appeared to be the door sign falling off due to the wind or breeze. However the staff was very apologetic and immediately responded to my request for fresh/new towels, cups and the emptying of the room garbage bins. Hopefully the use of a better designed door sign will prevent it from easily being dislodged from the door handle in the future in order to prevent this problem.

The new owners, Coast Hotels, have done an excellent job of upgrading this hotel and and continue to make major improvements to the property. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding and linens are very good quality. We enjoyed the very large screen TV as well. The restaurant that is part of the property is fun and has very good menu choices. the service is excellent and the food is very good. We would definitely stay on our next visit to Courtenay and look forward to seeing the swimming pool completed and open.
