My recent stay at the Stanford Resort in Fernie, BC, left much to be desired. While the location is convenient, the property appears to be in significant need of a thorough cleaning and maintenance overhaul. When paying over $230 per night ($700 including taxes for 3 nights), one would expect better. Room Cleanliness & Maintenance: Upon entering our room, we immediately noticed cobwebs, and unfortunately, long black hairs were evident in the bathtub, which was quite off-putting. The bathroom faucet was covered in fingerprints, and the floor appeared unvacuumed. Dust was noticeable on plants by the jacuzzi tub (as seen in pictures), on the TV, and very evident on the top of the columns by the jacuzzi. See the pictures where the word “dusty” has been written. The wall above the microwave appears to have a very large area where coffee has been sprayed there. The track on the balcony door has what appears to be dead bugs in it. Mud appears to be inn the bottom of the jacuzzi tub. The in-room fridge contained a purple liquid spill, and both the glass balcony doors and the cabinet housing the fridge were marred with a significant amount of fingerprints. Maintenance standards also seemed questionable; the replacement of the shower curtain showed poor workmanship, indicating a lack of attention to detail (see picture). Furthermore, the fan in our room made a ticking noise intermittently, and the plug for the tub was oddly set by the faucets. There is a definite lack of attention to

Property overall was great location, spacious for our larger family, amenities at property were great! We did not have enough dishwasher tabs and the front desk could not provide additional ones so we quickly ran out. Some of the dishes listed were not available and so we improvised. Pots and pans not in good condition. Recycling was nearby- definite positive. We would def consider staying here again.

Easy access from highway but ask for a room on the back side or you’ll be listening to the trucks flying by through the night. Pool facilities are kid/family oriented- not a peaceful sit by the pool. Decently appointed room. Nice view of the River and mountains on the backside.

I can’t say enough about the service we received during our week long stay at the Stanford during our daughter’s welling. Many relatives stayed there as well and were very happy with all services. The young girl at the front desk was amazing! She looked right after all my requests. She is a very professional when dealing with the public. She was very busy during our stay and she was very polite to all the customers and was a charm to see at the front desk. She deserves high praise and a big raise for her professionalism! Thank you so much and we will be back!!!!

The property is run down and in desperate need of improvements. Electrical wires behind light switch accessible by little fingers, can of drink filled with cigarette ash found on balcony. Check in was time consuming. Checked in at 1615, was told room wasn't ready. We got lucky in that 5 min later it was. Saw another family checking in at 1800 and their room was not ready either. Was double charged on my credit card for room and the hold took 4 business days to come off my credit card. The complimentary continental breakfast was average. Sugar, sugar and more sugar options though. Have to say, the pool and slide are in very good condition. The view and access to the river was very good.

This is probably a great hotel for family stays because of the waterslide. The room was fine. The mattresses were old. The bathroom needed renovations. The breakfast was limited and there was no staff to replenish the coffee pot.
