My insight. I actually thought the hotel was trying to do the best they could. Bottomline... my stay was fine except for a couple important factors. The room was unsafe! I stayed two nights... first night the bedside dresser light was flickering like a strobe light so I never used it. Called the front desk to have them look into it. Second night... same experience. So I moved the bed only to see the plugin was completely pushed in from the wall. It was clear to me that the plugin was shorting out and it was dangerous. Also, the rooms shower was really precarious! The shower control handle is a little strange as you have to pull the handle to get water. Well... you can tell guests before me had literally pulled the handle so hard that it was pulling the piping (for water) to move up to 4 inches. LOL. Needless to say I didn't sleep the second thinking... great the place is going to flood and fill up the the room with water and the plug-in will start to arc and I will get electrocuted in my sleep. Honestly, the hotel was fine... just very, very unsafe.

For the price - not great. Everything is very old and worn out and therefore feels a little dirty (I think it’s clean, though I found hair all over my pillow & some in the bathtub.) If the price was about 100 dollars less, I’d have given it a better review. But for same/similar pricing on this trip alone we’ve stayed at much newer or better maintained places. The free breakfast was great, though!

There was nothing really wrong with the property, rooms were clean, breakfast was decent and the breakfast area was nice. However, every other equivalent hotel we stay at on our drive across Canada was about $200 (ish). This one was basically double ($400, pretty sure it is the "Banff tax"). If the room was ~$200 it would be 4-star, but at this price, it is a 2-star motel.
