I loved everything about this property! I only gave three stars for breakfast because it is a grab-and-go situation. Breakfast is as good as it could be, and the free coffee is top notch! There are also plenty of coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance.

The Dorm Hotel is very close to campus and it's easy to walk to the Herbert art museum, nearby gorge and botanical garden. I loved the theme, and thought there were a lot of thoughtful choices that made it a nice place to stay. The common area on the main/reception floor has snacks for purchase, free tea/coffee, microwave, and fridge. There is also a beer/wine tap and pour set up with local beers. I believe I was in an accessible room, so it was fairly large and had it's own fridge and 2 entrances (one to hallway, one direct to outside). Next to the bed is a control panel for the lights, blackout shade, and the option to indicate whether or not housekeeping was needed (I loved this--such a simple but convenient thing). The only downside to this room is that it was near the stairs and under the main floor, so you get the sound of people walking. It wasn't too bad, just something to note if you are a light sleeper. If I'm in Ithaca again, I'd definitely stay here.

A fantastic place to stay! The Junior Suite with a separate entrance, kitchen, and dining area was the perfect place for me to work while my child visited Cornell. The rooms are exceptionally clean, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating!

I booked a one-night stay at The Dorm Hotel for $300 and was placed in Room 108, which is directly adjacent to the front desk. Unfortunately, my experience was far from restful. I was repeatedly woken up by ringing phones, guests checking out, and loud conversations right outside my door. To make matters worse, reception knocked just five minutes before the 11 AM checkout to remind me of the 11 AM checkout time. When I checked out, I expressed my frustration that I hadn't been informed the room shared a wall with the front desk and was located next to the hospitality area (with coffee, tea, TV, etc.). The response I received was that the hotel is "boutique" and I had booked the last available room. However, it was clear that no other guests were exposed to the same level of noise and disruption. Despite the inconvenience, I was told no refund or compensation could be offered because I had booked through a third party (Hotels.com). I believe, at the very least, a voucher for a future stay should have been offered as a gesture of goodwill. To top it off, the front desk advised that “in the future,” I should call after booking to request not to be placed in a room next to the front desk—something that should not be the guest’s responsibility in the first place.

Clean, small hotel with ample parking when we were there. Room was comfortable (bed, sink, toilet, shower, desk with bench). No refrigerator or coffee maker in room and limited snacks for purchase in lobby. Common refrigerator in lobby for guests to use. Mattress was too soft for us and one pillow per person (we prefer more). Good location close to downtown.

Budget Friendly Option

This is a budget friendly option in Downtown Ithaca. It's a convenient location, but does have some drawbacks like tight parking and small rooms. That said, it was clean and a good value compared to other hotels in the area.

Floor was dirty, had to call someone for help as they don’t man the front counter unless called. Bathroom dirt would not stay shut. Shower is small and placement of shower head you can’t escape spray to see anything. Shower also leaked onto bathroom floor. Cramped and no place to sit and few surfaces to place anything on. Bed remind me of stuffed mattress, very uncomfortable. You cannot control the temperature of your room, it’s all preset. Tv does not do CC. Cleaning performed outside of main floor rooms at bedtime. Very few instructions on how to utilize amenities in main room. Just overall more of a hassle and little privacy.
