Motel stay for a quick overnight stay…

Booked a multiple bed suite for six but a suite was not available but the hotel clerk did accommodate us in two rooms near each other. The rooms were okay but were missing basic things such as towels and tissues. Calling the front desk they did bring some but the towels weren’t plush and things were very basic. The setup is more motel like and some areas are dark with stairs located not necessarily near your room.

Half of the reason why I chose this hotel was the fact it had a pool. I didn’t know that the pool was closed during the entire time we were there. We kept asking for towels and wash clothes but no one brought us any. The front desk clerk was highly rude to my sister and I.

Check in took forever. They did not accept cash for the unexpected $100 deposit. I had to walk both ways to Walmart just to deposit money to my account as I just had cash on me. I was exhausted and needed some rest. When I finally went to the room to shower, I realized after my shower that there were no towels whatsoever. I had to wait to somehow dry before putting clothes back on and walk to the reception as the phone was not working either... I returned to the room with towels as they did not offer to even bring them to the room after royally screwing up. After returning to the room I noticed ants on the bed and by the phone. I took a video of it. I returned to the reception for the second time. They switched me rooms. The moment I opened the door a very strong smell of smoke was emanating from the room. Trip number three to the reception. Finally the girl at the counter followed me to the room (probably because she did not believe me). Upon entering she acted shocked by the strong smell of smoke. How could room service clear a room that smell smoke that bad especially since it is supposed to be a smoke free hotel? She gave me room number three which, surprisingly had towels and no visible bugs which was surprising... Trip number four to reception to get my key as nobody even bothered bringing it to my room. I returned to the room, lifted up my sheets and one of them was stained. At this point I did not care anymore. Avoid at all cost! You will thank me!

We arrived to the property 3 hours after check-in time and they stated they did not have a room ready for us because the cleaning staff were running behind on cleaning the rooms. They then tried to downgrade us to a 2-bed queen size room instead of the 1-bed king size room we booked. After we discussed moving to another hotel, they offered us the type of room we originally booked. In addition, they had a QR code that you could use to have a quick check in; when I did it and went to the front desk to retrieve our keys, the staff stated they did not know how to login into the program that the QR code is connected to so we had to check in again. In regards to the property, there were homeless people sitting on the side of the building we were in and we felt unsafe with our car parked next to them. The property had a pool, but the guests could not use it per the property staff due to a change in management. Very unhappy with our stay here, and we actually ended up leaving a night early because we were just not enjoying this property.
