Holy moly! Our experience at the Dixie dean was amazing!!! The concierge was so friendly and pointed out all of the local to dos as well as take some time to explain the local customs. The mood at the bar is spot on and what I often envision heaven looks like (jk jk but it was really nice) the jacuzzi was to die for and our rooms were so comfy and spacious there were many hotels we stayed at but this one will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Weekend away

Lovely stay, room was spacious and unique in decor. The jacuzzi bath was lovely, breakfast was excellent. Only downsides were the bathroom was a little tired and needed some repairs to the floor and walls.

Full of character and charm

Such a welcoming hotel, all staff from reception to the bar area were all amazing & helpful. Large rooms with jacuzzi baths, the floors in the en-suite could have been a little cleaner but that was the only complaint really

Nice stay

I was very surprised at the poor selection of drinks at the bar. A bitter or IPA would have been great We had a problem as the hairdryer was faulty. When I made the staff aware a replacement arrived in about 15 minutes very good. Surprised with the tea service for breakfast. The size of the cups was very small meaning I had to get 2 not very convenient I would have liked a mug option.

Lack of amenities in the rooms.

The hotel is not bad, but the room we were given did not have a coffee table, only a cupboard for 5 people, a single chair, no chair for the suitcases, and the iron, kettle and cups were also stored in the cupboard. The carpet in the room was very dirty and the heating did not work. The service was good and the breakfast was very good, varied and fresh. The dining room was comfortable and very pretty.

Lovely old property located perfectly for train station and the city centre. Room was a big old converted loft , the bar and restaurant was really nice and the bartender kept a supply of reasonably priced cocktails to the table. Only gripe ,could do with some of the little rubber buffers on the corridor and room doors as they don’t half make a bang when all the drunk guests arrive back late and possibly signs in the lift and corridor area asking guests to be quiet when returning late.

First, the Dixie Dean hotel is in an excellent position in the city center, with close-by parking a few minutes’ walk away in the Q-Park Queen Square. Now for the impressions of the hotel itself. The Dixie Dean is simply put, quirky! They have gone for a slightly odd décor, consisting of garish parrot-designed wallpaper with gold-painted steel ceiling supports (I assume it was a warehouse at one time). I'm not sure what decade this was designed for, but it made me smile nonetheless. Our room was obviously designed for disabled occupancy, which was nice for those that require this, with two bathrooms and a wheelchair shower. Admittedly, the main shower didn’t drain especially quickly, and you ended up with an inch or two of water at any time. Onto other facilities - Wi-Fi worked well in the main lobby and bar area but didn’t really reach our room, but I could deal with that, so not really a deal breaker. Breakfast was fine. It consisted of a buffet with cooked English breakfast items and continental food. The bar was good, and we were entertained by the two bartenders (good cocktail makers by the way). If you want a hotel that is close to the City Center not too expensive and have a sense of humor, the Dixie Dean is for you. Don't expect too much finesse, though
