Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable and the air conditioning was spot on. The breakfast had many choices and was delicious. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. I did have a problem with the ecological policy of the hotel. In the bathroom there was the explanation about saving water and protecting the environment. Unfortunately, in other areas of the hotel there was no "green policy" evident. The toiletries provided were in very very small plastic bottles which are discarded after one use. We already have too much plastic waste in our environment. Surely large dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash could reduce the amount of plastics being discarded. Also, many hotels use real plates, cups, glasses and cutlery in the dining area as well as in the rooms. Single use plastics (the cutlery) are a hazard to the environment and the paper plates and cups should have been recycled, not just dumped into one garbage can. It is important that we take care of our land in order for the next generation to enjoy our beautiful natural spaces. Reduce, reuse and recycle are the three Rs we should all be practising every day. After a full day of travelling, we finally arrived. We received our key and went to our assigned room only to find that it was occupied (sorry for interrupting your bedroom time). We were moved to another room. Beds were a bit lumpy, but were clean. There was a broken outlet plate on the wall and a hole that seemed to have been patched with toilet paper. The shower couldn’t decide if it wanted to be scalding hot or freezing cold and the outside door had a nice breeze around it as there was no way to securely lock it. We left after one night but was told that no refunds were to be given. Maybe they can use that extra money (because I’m 100% sure they rented our room out again) to patch the wall properly and replace the broken outlet. And maybe get some sleep because apparently being tired makes people accidentally put guests from two different families into one room and not mark it down. Other than that, the lady was nice enough.

Overall. I was very happy with the stay

It is definitely an older property that needs lots of maintenance. Great for families with younger kids. Left stuff in a suite before moving to another suite and it “disappeared”. It was okay, not where I set my bar. Wouldn’t do it again.

There was mold and mildew on the shower head (it was actually black with the mold) and around the shower door. I've seen this before at other hotels but this was the worst. Also, the pull out couch was the worst my daughter has slept on and we got two foam underlay things to help with it and it still did not allow her to sleep. We had to buy a blow up bed for her to be able to sleep on the floor which was better than the couch/bed. Other items to be aware of is that many of the electrical sockets did not work to plug in phones etc and the room was run down overall (kitchen cupboard water damage on bottom of them, balcony screen had holes in it, walls dented etc). We mentioned this to the front staff and they said they new it was like this but had no time to fix anything as it was booked solid. We tried to go into another room but they said they were booked up. So BEWARE - this is definitely not worth the cost we paid for it. Parksville is a lovely place but don't choose this resort as it needs to be updated or at least maintained better. Also, I sent a message to the GM and have yet to hear back from her on our disappointment. I will update this review if we hear back from her.
