What a gem! Booked this hotel last minute to avoid rain while camping! Ended up being a trip highlight! Hotel has exceptional staff, especially Anna is so wonderful. The place has lots of character and charm. Great setting for a murder mystery film!
The manager was fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming, even though we came in late.
This building really was the old court house and each room in the building, from the 1910s or so, has been converted. The decor, strangely enough, reminds you of Asia or perhaps Asian fascination from that period of time.
Downstairs is the equally fascinating Edie Rae cafe where you will get the best breakfast (free with your booking) that I have had in a long time.
The location is the old section of town. Since the mill closed the area has suffered, but there are many great buildings to look at. Downtown for shopping is a 10 minute drive.
I can't recommend this place enough.
Really interesting historic property with very unique eclectic, historic and artistic decor. Building and property is getting a bit tired, but was clean and very serviceable. Would stay here again.

We had a room with two beds, which were in separate rooms divided by a door so that was a pleasant surprise. Eat breakfast in the morning was delicious and served promptly to order. The area around the hotel is a little older, but not a significant concern all in all we had a great stay!
Stayed 1 night. Neat place! Great breakfast included with your stay.

This place is a gem. Authentic period decor, very quiet; we needed two beds and got two bedrooms- very homey. Brewpub and restaurants across the street. Cafe with eggs Benny included in the price. It’s a few km from the new part of town, with all the shops and restaurants but that didn’t affect us. I’d seek this place out if ever in PR again.
Antique furnishings through out property
Clean comfortable room (#2)
We had a private porch outside our room
Made to order breakfast included
Gem of a place
Unfortunately, we did not end up staying at Old Courthouse Inn, Powell River. We walked out as soon as my family saw the old, spooky room. Kelly was not there when we decided to leave but I left a note thanking him. It is not what we expected. Sadly, I had already signed the papers for $500 CAD stay. ( too late for refund). I have nothing against him. He can use that money to make the room appealing, with bright light. I would not recommend this place at all. It had its day ( 40 years ago) but it's not even worth including it with Expedia in today's tourism world. The ad photos were taken 8 years ago ( deceiving ad) and only ONE had a review last year. I warn others to be careful. Have a LOOK first before signing the papers!
I love these old hotls. This is aconverted court house. My first.
Room was smsll but gine.
Comes with hot breakfast st the restaurant in the lower level.
Fantastic meal and great service.
Caroline was up to the task today serving a full room.
Gladly stay hete agsin.
Plus, Flo charger on the st. Behind for electric vehicles made our trip even easier.
Well done reno of a historic building. Kelly has worked hard to make it into a uniquely interesting boutique hotel, adding antiques and historic artifacts and art from the local area.
The breakfasts, included in the price, are all house made, including the yummy Hollandaise sauce and house made biscuits. The room rates remain affordable.
The now closed paper mill does subtract from the otherwise pristine views of the area including the Straight of Georgia.
There is an absence of restaurants and cafes in the Old Town but the main part of Powell River is only a 5 minute drive away.
