I stayed at this property many years before this recent stay. The property has not been well maintained or upgraded. THE POOL IS CLOSED. The most helpful person was a housekeeper (hispanic) that said she had worked there over 20 years!

The beach was very close, could walk across the highway to get there. Not many restaurants around, the ones that were are a bit pricey. Staff was friendly. I was charged more than what was quoted for the pet fee, which kind of disappointed me. Overall, I would probably not choose to stay in San Simeon again because it's a very small town, would more than likely stay in Cambria or a little further down in San Luis Obispo.

Probably the worst and most rude front office staff I have ever interacted with. I made a reservation through orbitz and paid for the room in advance. When I showed up, I was told that I had no reservation . I showed the front office staff my reservation as well as the receipt. I was told that I didn’t have a reservation, but if I wanted to pay, they could find a room for me, I declined and was told that I needed to take care of this with Orbitz. Once a customer service representative from Orbitz was on the phone, they verified that I had a reservation and that it had been paid for. They then tried to call this hotel. I could hear the phone ringing and I let the clerk know Orbitz was calling to clear up my reservation. I was ignored and I could see that she put the call on hold. The Orbitz customer service representative came back on the line and said that he had been cut off by the hotel and was calling again. He came back on the line again and said that the number from Orbitz had now been blocked by this hotel. Then the front office worker said I need your ID and credit card. I asked what happened and if they showed the room already paid for. She said you have to give me your ID and credit card or you can’t stay here. Never an apology for their incompetence or an explanation why they didn’t show my reservation. This whole fiasco took over 30 minutes to settle.

The wifi was nearly nonexistent. People next door were on the walkway that leads to all 2nd story rooms chatting away into the evening - although they weren’t yelling - it was noisy and difficult to focus on a phone conversation even with my door closed. I politely asked them to tone it down - and they did, for about 10 minutes . . . To be fair, they stopped by 10 PM. The water in the jacuzzin looked green - really - I passed.
