Hello - we had our dog with us for a Thanksgiving getaway to Hearst Castle - the hotel was a welcoming, convenient and even festive environment right next to the ocean. It is by no means a "fancy" or resort-like experience, but it was convenient, comfortable and friendly. We will likely return with our dog in the future!

Flies constantly in the bathroom. Fireplace did NOT work. Bathroom heater did NOT work. No desk & lamp for my laptop. No grab bar for the spa/tub. Owner should realize its NOT easy for an older person to get in & out of a spa/tub. There should also be a grab bar when using the shower. POOR. Will NOT recommend to friends.

The bathroom sink clogs up and the faucet is too short, so water pours all over including the floor. The tub also clogs and both beds creak.

There were several dead insects around the perimeter of the room. All the outlets were loose and a fire hazard. There was also mold growing on the bathroom ceiling. The ceiling fan was out of center and loose creating loud noise. Continental breakfast was average, great water pressure in shower. Beds were uncomfortable and linen that didn’t fit beds and bunched up when sleeping.

Everyone was very nice and linens seemed clean. There were ants in our bathroom and we had a broken window screen. Was also surprised there was no AC, but that’s my bad for not looking into it. No food delivery, which is fine. A little disappointed for the price I paid, but it was decent.

Beware when booking this property! Total bait and switch as well as deceptive statements. The room you book off the website will not likely match what you get. Oceanside does not mean it's on the ocean or even close. There are multiple buildings between the hotel and the ocean but it is meant to say it's on the ocean side! The staff at the desk is really rude and condescending when asked why the deceit ! Book elsewhere

Great place and reasonably priced
jVery nice property. Staff was especially nice. Continental breakfast was very good. Julian at check-in couldn't have been nicer. Room was clean, and there were nice touches--like a fireplace, a walled-in heated pool, easy parking, big TV screen, paper flowers for the TP and tissues, and a towel tied like a turkey. The location is along Rt. 1, and fairly close to Cambria, Hearst Castle, elephant seal beach, Moonstone Beach, and lots of good food places.

Dirty and Underwhelming
The room we were given was dirty- had stains on the ceiling and the curtains. The shower did not work well and the bathroom had ants in it. Everything felt like it had not been updated since the 90s, and the condition of the room supported that.

Convenient and takes you back in time
We decided to stay over here before continuing to San Fransisco after doing a tour at Hearst Castle close by. The Hotel is named after the Castles architect. It is conveniently located next to the main road, though we could figure out how they post photos of the hotel next to the Ocean, when its not. One can easily stay here longer of you want to tour the region more
