Horrible
The Morgan Hotel is old, tired and dirty. The breakfast was terrible, coffee was brown water, and we ended up having to get dressed and drive to Cambria for coffee and pastries both mornings of our stay. We had noisy next door neighbors who partied in their room until 1:00 AM. Our double queen room had broken springs on one of the beds. The carpet and upholstered sofa and chair were dirty and the bathroom was disgusting.
Chipping and peeling paint. Old and dirty hardware. Overall horrible maintenance.
Drip marks from who knows what on the bathroom door and walls
Multiple breaks and cracks in the bathroom mirror frame.

Great Place. Clean & Food Nearby!
The hotel was nice, and the room was decent, too. It was pretty kept up and clean. It was nice to walk next door for food and drinks. The only harder part was having to walk in the main building to get to your room, and it was noisy. That could just have been the people around us being overall loud, too. I'd stay here again for sure!

The front staff person upon check in was very polite, professional, and helpful. The hotel is nicely set up. The lobby and breakfast area is cozy and welcoming. Location is very convenient to Hearst Castle. We got in late so we didn’t walk around but there are restaurants within walking distance. It was a small disappointment that the fireplace in our room didn’t work. We did not bring this to the attention of staff upon checking in because we were just too tired. The room was otherwise clean and the beds were super comfy.

Morgan Hotel stay
Started with the check-in clerk not knowing how to make change from a cash payment. The room visually looked nice. After we brought our things in we sat on the chair and sofa, they didn't smell good. Possibly old body odor or old furniture. Carpet needed a cleaning. Bathroom set-up was odd. Continental breakfast didn't offer any diabetic friendly foods such as cheese, boiled eggs or cottage cheese. Foods offered were mostly sugary food items. On the positive it was quiet and the heater worked good.

Less than Exceptable
The room was less than satisfactory. The whole building smelled of old smoke. We had an “Ocean View”, but there wasn’t much to see through the dirty windows. There were 2 over sized chairs which would have been very inviting however they looked like a 20lbs cat was searching for catnip in the arms. The Jacuzzi bathtub looked like it had not been cleaned since it was installed 20+ years ago.

It was dirty , very bad smell & barking of dog. I think it is because of dog. I've been used Morgan with my family every year for ten years. But i changed my mind choose other hotel.

Hotel is a little dated. Housekeeping didnt refill the lotion, shampoo or conditioner. It's nice to have a refrigerator but it was very old. Nice location. Mexican restaurant is right next door and good food.

Cozy hotel with small parking spaces
The staff is great , super nice and friendly at the front desk. Hotel is cute but outdated. There was no ac in the room, but we went in December so it wasn’t so bad. We kept the windows open to get some fresh air inside the room. The parking garage is super small especially if you’re driving a truck. Very limited spaces and very tight spaces. The room was nice and clean with plenty of towels but the bed was hard and pillows were uncomfortable. The continental breakfast was good. Overall, our room was very clean and we enjoyed all the Christmas decor in the lobby and in the hallways.

Right by the ocean and near Hurst Castle. Good service and sufficient breakfast. Nice and quiet with room amenities, such as a small fridge and cable TV. Overall, good experience.

Location, staff, and simplicity.
Great location down the road from Hearst Castle and Friends of the Elephant Seal viewpoint. About 2 hours north of Solvang. Hotel is a little on the older side but it has quaint and comfortable characteristics. Staff was extremely helpful and kind throughout our stay. Parking is near the rooms so not too far to carry luggage. Steps away from the beach lookouts. Limited options on food/restaurants. Room fridge was a little noisy and the bed/pillows could be updated. Overall, great stay for those looking for something simple. Free continental breakfast a huge plus!
