Great location

Our stay at Hotel Saint Martin was incredibly frustrating. The room we were given was completely different from what we booked and was visibly dirty upon arrival. The room was very small, had view on a wall, there was no soap, towels had holes. When we brought these issues to the front desk, the receptionist was dismissive and entirely unhelpful. We won’t go back.

A great hotel, lovely staff, clean rooms and facilities plus the best steak tartare I’ve had in Basel so far

Good offer for breakfast directly at reception - 20 CHF. Excellence service

This was our third stay in four years which s a strong recommendation. Our room was good and was very quiet despite being close to the bus and train stations. The staff were very helpful with one exception when they found it difficult to give precise directions to a landmark in the city - quickly corrected by another member of staff. The room met all our needs and had a kettle, safe and small fridge - all very useful for our stay of 8 days. Sadly none of the rooms in our price range had a shower (only a shower over the bath), but with difficulty we managed. One great bonus is its easy access to the railway station (2 minutes away) which was important as we used the Swiss Travel Pass extensively throughout our stay. Everything was as we expected it to be and overall we recommend The Metropol warmly.
