The property is old and dated. I booked ahead and arrived late to check in. Surprisingly all the rooms were full and likely with truckers passing through. It was good enough for one night.

The room was unclean with bugs present, and the desk was dirty. There was an unpleasant odor both in the room and the lobby. The photos provided online were misleading and did not reflect the actual condition of the Sandman Inn in McBride. The stay was extremely overpriced given the poor state of the hotel. For the rate charged, the experience was unacceptable — the cleanliness, smell, and overall condition made it feel worse than sleeping in a car.

Mediocre at Best

The outside of the building has deferred maintenance - siding needs paint and parking lot is rough. The unit had very dark brown carpeting making it hard to assess the cleanliness. The bathroom counter was 70s original and the wallpaper was tattered in places. The painted tub had some peeling paint on the bottom. When we pulled in, we saw a staff member look out the lobby window, but when we walked into the lobby we had to ring the bell for service which was odd and not welcoming. They had to turn on the ice machine when I asked about ice. Although there wasn't anything overtly bad given the price, I wouldn't stay there again.

The host at the reception was an amazing guy, very helpful made us feel at home. The room was spotlessly clean. Everything was perfectly placed and tidy. This being a small town, everything closes by 7 PM. Though we reached very late in the evening, the front desk was very prompt in giving us the service. I would say it was "a personal cozy cocoon." A very good family short stay.
