The stay was amazing we was at the State fair and wouldn’t be until late they said that was ok even if was after midnight and the breakfast was very good the hotel was amazing and we will stay there again when we are in Des Moines

It is odd that this hotel is in a neighborhood. Very comfortable beds. Clean hotel. Quiet. Never heard another door shut. However, the town rolls up the sidewalks at 9:00 PM, so you better eat early. Will stay again!

The lady at the counter the night I arrived wasn’t very welcoming. The women at the desk when I left was very welcoming. The room I stayed in needs to be renovated, the shower leaked all night & before I got there. I got an extended king with the whirlpool that was molded. The jets were black, not because of cleaning but because it’s probably old. Couldn’t get in it at all because of it. Didn’t have a nice & wouldn’t stay there again. It also smelled like cigarettes on the floor I was located on, which is odd because it was supposed to be non smoking.

The only good thing about this hotel is the breakfast, the staff, and the lobby. Otherwise, the hotel corridors are not air conditioned so on a hot day they feel like an oven. The AC in the room was also not great. Our room (210) smelled awful - like combination of mildew and bleach. The curtains were old and frayed. There was virtually no soundproofing - heard everything in the hallway, in the rooms above, and any time someone flushed a toilet it sounded like a waterfall in the walls. The fridge was small, awkwardly located and barely kept things cold with no visible temperature adjustment available. The supposedly free internet was only free if you subscribed to Wyndham rewards. otherwise it cost $5.00. Even with subscription, it took a trip down to the lobby desk and the staff person needing to switch something on her computer to be able to log onto the web, and even then it only worked for one device - other devices had similar problems with log on but at that point I needed sleep not another trip to the lobby. this was our 5th night on a vacation road trip on which we had used 4 different hotel chains. All of them except this one were as advertised or better. This was our first stay at a LaQuinta or a Wyndham property and it will be our last.
