If I could give this place zero stars I would. First, it was very hard to find the location because there is construction outside. When I finally found the place, there was one person at the desk who was extremely rude and condescending. She made fun of the way I spoke (mimicked me). I was in shock. I had already prepaid for the hotel so I didn't know what to do. I figured I would let it go since it's one night. I asked about parking - she said can't give me parking until I checked in. So I checked in and then after I paid for parking - she said she didn't have anymore key cards to the parking garage. She told me that every time I would need to go in or out of the garage I would need to come into the hotel and tell them and they would meet me at the garage (!) I asked politely how does this work if there's only one person at the desk. and where do I park to call you to help me with the garage (since there's no parking - only construction - outside the hotel). That set her off in an angry tirade. I was afraid for my safety at this hotel with this person in charge. I called my friend that I was meeting - she came over a few minutes later and I told her what happened. We checked the room - which had an intense chemical odor - can't breath. She refused to let me talk to a manager and refused to refund. It was such a twilight zone experience. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRID PLACE.

Room was small but cute. We didn’t use the amenities (kitchenette) or even the shower. Just spent the night there after a formal event. Location is great, right across from the beach and close to local shops, restaurants and the Oceanside Pier. That being said, the staff was extremely unaccommodatiing and the online contactless check in process was confusing and frustrating. I had three requests- all of which were refused. First off, we had two cars, but were told we could only park one onsite. We were sent a link to arrange for nearby pay parking. Only to find out upon arrival there was free parking available on the street. No big deal. Second, I requested to check in fifteen minutes ahead of time so that I could have time to change. I was flatly refused. “Your code will not work until 4pm.” Ok. Fine. I did my makeup and hair ahead of time (before traveling) and just changed into my dress at the hotel. Third, I requested late check out. I was again denied. The rationale was that the housekeeping staff was on a strict schedule and someone else would be checking in at 4pm. So I had to be out by 11am so that they could have FIVE hours to clean a small room an bathroom. This request easily could’ve been accommodated, but was refused. We simply would’ve enjoyed a little more time to explore the neighborhood before having to check out, but all we were able to squeeze in was a coffee and a walk on the pier. Something else to note was the wacky check-in process. But I’m out of room!

We loved this historic hotel and hope it lives on forever! Everything was wonderful.

The hotel offers a truly memorable stay, blending comfort with a distinct sense of character that sets it apart from standard accommodations. From the moment of arrival, the atmosphere feels warm and thoughtfully designed, with staff who are attentive without being overwhelming.

The resort needs to be updated. The bathrooms were dated and one tiny shelf in the shower for toiletries. Housecleaning was horrible. Everytime they cleaned, they left an empty toilet paper roll and no extra rolls. One day they left no shower gel. And we ordered an extra blanket and pillows our first day and it took 3 calls and 10 hours to get them! They don’t answer the front desk phone and instead have an automated service or they text you. The prices for drinks at pool are $20 for any drink! Ridiculous. And crappy pool towels and cushions on lounge chairs. And their market only had tiny bottles of water for $3. We went to the gym to fill our water bottles. The restaurants are good, especially Tidal. Definitely not worth more than $250/night place. The bellmen are great.

Finding the property was our biggest challenge. The directions were a bit confusing, and there wasn't a contact number provided, so we had to search online to call for assistance. Once we reached the staff, we learned the property is located at Heroes Garden on top of the hill. We ended up driving around the beautiful campus while looking for it, which turned into a nice sightseeing experience. Parking is free but limited, so I recommend ride-sharing or carpooling, especially for larger groups. The staff truly made our stay memorable. Everyone was warm, friendly, and professional. Special thanks to Sherry at the front desk for her helpful recommendations and local tips. The onsite housekeeper was also kind, patient, and happy to answer all of our questions. Please note that this property is designed for peace and relaxation rather than resort-style amenities. There is no pool, spa, gym, café, or restaurant on site. However, DoorDash is available, making it easy to enjoy meals from excellent local restaurants without reservations or long waits. The room was beautifully maintained, and the views were breathtaking. We loved overlooking the lush green landscape, the Pacific Ocean, and the beautiful blue sky. The peaceful garden and infinity-style water feature overlooking the ocean were especially relaxing at the Heroes Garden. Hearing only birds and crickets made it feel like a true escape. We felt like we had found our second home and will definitely be back!
