Very Disappointing Experience Compared to Other Hyatt Properties Unfortunately, this stay was nothing like the experiences I have had at other Hyatt hotels. I have come to expect a certain standard of cleanliness, maintenance, and overall quality from Hyatt, and this property fell well below those expectations. Cleanliness was my biggest concern. Upon entering our room at check-in, we immediately noticed several areas that were extremely dirty. The bathroom was particularly unacceptable. The toilet had not been properly cleaned, and the white shower curtain had black specks or spots all over it that resembled small bugs, although they were not bugs. Several of the supposedly clean towels also had very noticeable hairs on them, which should have been caught when the towels were folded and prepared for guests. After contacting the front desk to report the dirty bathroom, including what appeared to be dried bodily fluids, and requesting that it be cleaned, it took two full days for housekeeping to address the issue. That delay was unacceptable and made an already disappointing experience even worse. The condition of the property was equally concerning. The hotel has two elevators, but one has reportedly been out of order since 2024. The remaining elevator was extremely slow, appeared to need servicing, and had difficulty fully closing its doors. The indoor pool was also closed throughout our entire stay, and staff could not tell us when it would reopen.

To have a luxury hotel like this that is privately owned and not a massive corporate feel is awesome. We love the Charleston place and all the changes they have been making over the past few years. Beautiful property great vibe and quiet luxury.

Amazing hotel, exceptional staff. We will most definitely stay there again!

We stayed in the penthouse room with two bedrooms. Be sure to check availability of that room type with balcony or terrace. Note that there are penthouse rooms that come with neither a balcony nor a terrace. Although the room was great, we were disappointed with having no outdoor space. Our room was located at the front of the hotel on King Street. We didn’t realize how much noise there would be from the street and from the stores under the room. Be sure to request a room on the third floor or towards the back of the property. The staff was friendly, especially the valet staff. We also arranged for a sunset sail through the hotel that was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. I highly recommend that. We also ate at the restaurant Lowland and it was a great experience. Our waiter, in particular, was very knowledgeable and a real pleasure.
