The rooms were clean and well appointed. The bar staff were friendly and made great drinks. Sitting outside listening to live music was wonderful. The hotel staff were also very helpful and made our stay very pleasant. Thanks!

We stayed at Soda Butte to be close to Lamar Valley in Yellowstone. I knew the property was older so I didn’t have high expectations. Upon check in, the manager clearly mislead us on dining opportunities in the area to get us to eat at “his restaurant.” Dining was limited in town, however there was a saloon that served excellent cheeseburgers that he never mentioned. We did eat at his restaurant one night. Grilled cheese was awful and husband’s French Dip smelled awful. French fries were not cooked on inside. Bed was actually tilted to one side. While our room was fairly clean, hotel is dark, dingy and unkept. There are not a lot of accommodations in Cooke City, but I would not recommend this hotel. The only thing it has going for it is its proximity to Lamar Valley.
