The Exeter In. Is a beautiful historic inn recently purchased which will bring much needed updates to this gem. The rooms will gradually be updated……the restaurant is very good and staff very helpful. Full breakfast as part of the stay, easy parking but needs to become handicapped accessible. There is an elevator but steps on front and side entry.

This property was at its worst for our stay. We booked the room more than 30 days in advance but they only notified us of the following problems 2 hours before we checked in. The elevators were not working and we were initially booked on the 4th floor. We were relocated to the 2nd floor which required pulling three 50+ pound suitcases up (and down) a flight of stairs. Not fun. The central A/C system was also not working, but they had installed window A/C units in the rooms (one per room, so our living room was cooled but the bedroom was not). A fan was provided to move the cool air into the bedroom so that did help. Since the A/C system was down the daily full breakfast was reduced to a continental style breakfast. We did not get what we paid for so requested a discount. We received 20% off but felt like it should have been more. We will have at least two more stays in the Dartmouth College area but will avoid this property.

There was not adequate parking. The indoor and outdoor pools were freezing with the exception of one, but that one was loaded with children. The paint was peeling everywhere. There were much needed repairs visible in the room, as well as in the pool area. The hotel only allowed one pool towel. The room had a fireplace that did not work and a toaster that also did not work. We would never recommend this place.

Eagle Mountain House is a classic New Hampshire historic hotel property. So you have to expect that some aspects of the property are not modern. But the quintessential charm of “grand hotels” is perfect for family fun!

Staff extremely friendly. Had issues with cable 2 nd night but they got back going quickly!!

The major issue we had with our room was that the shower didn’t work. It was late at night and we didn’t want to call the office because we didn’t want someone coming into our room at that hour. In the morning, when I went into the office, no one was there. We didn’t call out or try to find anyone since we were on the way out and just wanted to report the shower. Instead we left a note in the room with the tip for the person cleaning.
