I've stayed at the Nautical Mile many times! The rooms are perfect for a get-away! The pool is always ready to cool off in and the people, both working at the Nautical Mile and guests are very friendly.

I wanted to resolve this before posting a review but management never replied. I emailed the Inn (7) times since 8/23 and called (4) times. Each time, they said someone would get in touch; they didn't. There were several significant issues with Room 9 where I stayed. ~ Upon opening the door, I was hit with a strong musty smell. I had to leave the bathroom window open and the AC running continuously. Unfortunately, that left the room fairly humid ~ The only two chairs in the room both badly stained and looked gross, as if someone had urinated in the chairs ~ Two hooks, and an exposed nail at eye level remained in the places where paintings were removed, which added to the unkempt appearance of the room. The exposed nail is also dangerous ~ There are several mold spots on the shower ceiling ~ There is mold or mildew in the shower grout ~ The fan in the bathroom rattles loudly ~ The sink dripped constantly ~ The door to my room sticks and is difficult to open ~ The back door to the main house is also very difficult to open ~ There was a chunk of flesh in the shower I asked to switch rooms but none were available. Staff were nice but management didn't care.

Excellent, well-situated hotel. Front desk personnel were helpful and courteous. Sean and Simone were so kind in finding us the perfect room to suit our needs. Olivia at the bar in the evening was professional; we enjoyed our conversations with her. Great coffee-nook with perfect additions for a continental breakfast. Thanks to all who helped make our stay so enjoyable.

Cliff House Maine – Spectacular Views, Beautiful Accommodations, and a Few Areas for Improvement Overall, our stay at Cliff House was excellent. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the ocean views are spectacular. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and extremely comfortable. The bedding was especially luxurious, and the sheets felt fabulous, although they unfortunately wouldn’t stay on the bed! The dining experience was somewhat disappointing compared to the rest of the property. The food was beautifully presented, but the flavors and overall quality were average. Given the Michelin recognition and expectations, we anticipated a more memorable culinary experience. The spa itself was amazing. Beautifully designed, luxurious, and exceptionally well appointed, it was one of the highlights of the property. The spa services were definitely above average and very enjoyable, although not quite exceptional. The staff throughout the property were lovely. Housekeeping and valet deserve special recognition for their outstanding service, friendliness, and attention to detail. The restaurant waitstaff were good and attentive, while the front desk service was adequate but didn’t quite match the warmth and polish we experienced elsewhere. Despite a few areas for improvement, Cliff House is a wonderful destination. The spectacular setting, beautiful accommodations, and exceptional spa facilities make it a memorable coastal Maine getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
