Great place, so glad we chose Gold Leaf. Walking distance to everything including beach, restaurants, bay, and stores. Some highlights for us - comfortable beds, pillows, AC worked great in our room, parking garage, and walkable to everything we needed. Triple bed room worked great for us. Staff was excellent and helpful, smiling and greeting us. ‘Juliette’ balcony was a bonus. We had a great stay. It’s an older hotel in town, but don’t let that deter you.

More quiet than most places I've stayed on the boardwalk. Easy acces right to the boardwalk.

Most of the staff was amazing. We had an ocean side view with 2 double beds. The fridge leaked the whole time. There was some wallpaper peeling off the walls. The floors were not cleaned during our stay and I ended up asking the housekeeper to borrow the broom and sweep the room out myself. But honestly for the price of it compared to other places and the location, I feel it was fair and I’d consider staying again. The front desk gal Brittany really is as amazing as all the Google reviews say. She will make you smile!

Loved the location and how clean the hotel was. Room may say coastal but does not have water view. It’s decorated in coastal decor. There is no Buffett breakfast offered only menu items that were just ok. Small pool. No bar service the first day. Second day they had offered bar service at pool but the poor bartender had to keep going up and down to get drinks. Not Whst I expected

Room was totally remodeled. Very nice. We had an ocean view. Beautiful. Workers were all very friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable. We had a full size fridge and a 2 burner stovetop. The main room of the suite was a little small but good enough for us.

Overall cleanliness is middle range. The pull out sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable. The fitted sheet did not fit the queen bed & kept sliding off, which was strange. The air conditioning unit was leaking water into the rug giving the room a musty smell. The proximity to the beach was key for us. The staff was very friendly. The roof top pool was a very nice addition that we enjoyed. Overall our stay was okay. Not in a rush to return but met our basic needs.

I would highly recommend the Surf Shanty to anyone looking to stay in Dewey Beach. From the start, Andrea and the staff were very accommodating and on top of my check-in. There was ample parking on the property, and you are steps from the beach. The rooms were very clean, and they gave you all the toiletries and towels you needed. The air conditioning was super cold, and the beds were some of the best I've used at a hotel. Andre was awesome; he gave us lots of great recommendations for around the area. I wish there was some sort of closet or more storage but if thats my only complaint then so be it. Please keep in mind there is no elevator, so anyone who has difficulty using the stairs should request the first floor. When I come back to the area, I will definitely be staying here again.
