Room wasn’t very clean when I arrived, I found dead beetles and toilet paper pieces on the floor. The bedding was stained.

For the price, we were very pleased overall with the Gold Leaf Hotel. The location is excellent—very close to the beach—and everyone we encountered was polite. Our room was a good value for the area. Our main cleanliness complaint was a visibly dirty or mildewed shower curtain that should have been replaced and it was after I requested it to be changed. My biggest concern as a parent was smoking around the rooftop pool. During our stay, guests smoked both cigarettes and marijuana immediately beside the pool while children were swimming. The hotel has placed smoking receptacles throughout the pool area, which makes the entire pool deck function like a smoking section. What makes this especially frustrating is that the hotel already provides a much more appropriate smoking location on the open-air fourth-floor parking deck, including smoking receptacles and two chairs. Guests who smoke therefore have a designated place available without needing to smoke directly beside children and nonsmoking families at the pool. I strongly encourage management to remove the smoking receptacles from the pool deck, make that area smoke-free, and direct smokers to the existing parking-deck location. This was otherwise an affordable and enjoyable stay in an excellent location.

Only difficulty was that AI checked us in and if you get there after 11:30pm you can’t check in. I feel like that is something they should warn you about. But it was great for the price.

Debby was a wonderful hostess at this beautiful bed and breakfast. She was very friendly, accomidating and made you feel very welcome. She served a delicious breakfast and even shared a secret recipe with me. Her home is beautifully decorated while the waterfront view is breathtaking. I highly recommend this unique bed and breakfast for your next travel experience.
