The staff is always very nice. The room is always clean. The facilities looks good. Parking is nice. Breakfast is good.

I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions.

After I checked in and was given my key cards the staff smiled to inform me the pool closed due to a broken pump. We chose this location for the pool and free breakfast. Not only was the pool closed, the breakfast was horrible. The eggs were the worst I've ever tasted and the gravy was in a crockpot and it was the consistency of milk. We couldn't even eat breakfast. That was not the worst part, my kids woke up to bites all over them and we found two live bead bugs. They claim the manager wasn't working and would only refund me for one room out of the 2 paid for. The front desk staff was outside smoking every time I went to the lobby and was in no hurry to report to the desk when customers were there. I will never again stay here.
