It was perfectly fine for a quick overnight on the way to somewhere else. It was also listed as one of the least expensive hotels in the area and we were only there to sleep. However, we were hit with a $50 “resort” fee upon arrival and if I HAD been wanting to book a spa /resort, which for some inexplicable reason they are calling themselves, I would be quite angry. There was not a single thing spa like about the property (we did not book any spa services though they offer them). We often go on spa vacations, and even the most budget of spa hotels try to create a soothing relaxing atmosphere in their lobbies and rooms, whether offering cucumber/citrus water in the lobby, or water in the room, or soothing colors and impeccably cleaned rooms, nice bedding, spa like soaps in the bathroom, etc. The rooms here were dingy with only one window in the whole suite so it was like a weird popcorn ceilinged cave, the tub porcelain was chipped, the sliver of hand soap smelled unpleasant, the bed sheets and mattress were not great, furniture was worn and not comfortable… I could go on but you get the idea. Also the check in process was mysterious-we got 3 emails pestering us to “complete check in paperwork” so our arrival would be “seamless” but I still had to go through giving all the info and credit cards again, not fun at midnight. Breakfast was on the level of a Comfort Inn breakfast with the addition of chickpea salad and kielbasa. Conclusion: Fine for a Comfort Inn, not a spa hotel.

Parking was not easy. It was advertised as free parming and the explanation made it seem simple enough but finding free street parking in the area is not easy and you co stantly have to move your vehicles.

P Indoor pool and hot tub loved and the outdoor Shack was great

This is more like university housing than anything else. The building is full of students and poorly maintained, with visitors following others into the entrance. Carpeting is stained, paint is chipping, blinds are broken, the a/c didn't work, the hallway smells. Communication with the Evonify owners was poor, and we had to go through Hotels.com to receive our access code/registration in time for our arrival and, ultimately, a refund. We left a few minutes after we entered the unit. Not recommended. It is not the sunny, pristine, and secure apartment that appears in the photos.

Given the reviews on line I was surprised by our experience. We had a King size room and I was offered the option to upgrade for an additional fee but declined. Positives:The hotel is in a wonderful location, it is very clean with interesting decor. There was free self parking in the back, which was nice. We did not have to worry about the car.Negatives: The King size bed was very close to the floor, it had an AC unit in the window that did not sufficiently cool the room and a shade that needed to remain up in order to run it so the room could either be completely dark and hot or light and have air blowing in. The room itself was very loud and we could hear other s. The TV did not operate well. The iron had been gunked up by previous guest and we could not use it. To be fair, we could have requested a new iron but gave up on it. The biggest positive was location as we could walk downtown Portsmouth, which was lovely.

This Inn is a beautiful old building with a long history. It is located within easy walking distance of downtown Lexington with all its history. The Inn had wonderful rooms, a great staff and a top rate restaurant all in one place. Highly recommend!
