Room and Public areas were all immaculate. Check-in was easy and quick.

Nice view of the river. The staff was nice.

Cool setup in the Mercantile. The "Continental breakfast" was virtually non-existent, consisting of a Keurig coffeemaker, a handful of apples and bananas, and if you timed it right, Entemanns muffins. The restaurant was closed my entire time there. The room was odd-sized: low toilet, which was too close to the wall (the toilet roll holder pressed against my upper arm when sitting), and the sink was too tall (hitting me in the ribs).

i made this reservation but when I got there that night at about 7 pm they said that they did not have a room for me

We have stayed there several times in the past and return because we feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed when we stay there.

I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions.

Wonderful stay. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Will choose Candlewood again.
