The staff was great however the over all experience was not. The first room we got in to had mildew in the bathroom, and all the toiletries were empty. The front desk then informed us they were out of everything but shampoo. Then we were locked out of the room because the electronic lock quit working. Afer we got into a second room it too had mildew in the shower and the fixtures were dusty. Additionally the pool is out of service and that is not indicated on the website at all. Lastly we went down to breakfast at 7am and it was mostly empty but what was left had flies. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We may be more particular than most people. In our room (402), the door to the balcony needs repaired as is hard to open & the shower nozzle needs replaced. Cleaning of the room was just okay/not excellent. Pool area was beautiful & Doc’s was a nice amenity. We were particularly disappointed in the Summit Restaurant, which has excellent service but the food quality was lacking. Everything was heavily over-peppered. Overall Shanghai-La Resort is a beautiful facility in a gorgeous location. We just maybe expected a little higher standard in our room.

Always a great stay on Grand Lake!

When booking here, you must remember it is an old hotel. The room was huge ( thinking maybe 3 old rooms were opened into one modern one) but the air conditioning didn't reach all of it. The cool looking barn door to the bathroom didn't stay closed unless you got it "just right". And there wasn't any place to put any personal items in the bathroom while you were showering ( I put the desk chair in there). The TV kept buffering which the desk girl helped but it took her an hour to get to helping us. Overall, not a bad place at all, especially if you like the nostalgia of it, but not a new hotel.

Clean rooms, helpful staff, close to the Hard Rock. Lots of dining and shopping options very close.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful art deco decor. Close to everything needed in downtown. Quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Great view outside our corner room.
