Toilet did not work staff is super unhelpful

I stayed here for one night while driving from Texas to California. Overall, I’d rate it as OK (3 out of 5 stars). The biggest positive was the staff—they were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. The complimentary breakfast was good, with a nice selection of cereals, pastries, waffles, yogurt, juice, and fresh apples. The breakfast area seemed clean and well maintained. Parking also was easy. My only disappointment was the condition of my room. It was a significant letdown which is what brought me to only a 3-star rating: The bathroom sink drain plug didn’t work, the bathroom door wouldn’t lock, the toilet paper roll looked like someone had just used it and the bathtub was so slippery that I had to stand on a hand towel while showering to avoid slipping. The shower curtain looked worn, the armoire was missing a door handle, and the window blinds were uneven and allowed a significant amount of light from neighboring floodlights to shine into the room all night. Side note: the peephole in the door is somewhat sizable and had no cover for privacy and security so I stuck a damp piece of tissue in it. Sorry, Housekeeping. The room itself was reasonably clean, but it would benefit from more attention to maintenance. With a few repairs, this property could provide a much better guest experience.

Had to cancel the trip, but didn't receive a refund even though I gave 24-hours+ notice.

The staff was friendly and the stay was very restful.
