We liked that the hotel was centrally located slightly outside of the main center of Aberdeen. It was smartly decorated, was quiet location, and convenient to many city destinations and public transportation. The simplicity of our accommodations made for a spacious room including the bathroom which is often much smaller and functional. If there was one thing I feel was missing were some usual/typical amenities one might find in the bathroom, such as shampoo and conditioner, body soap/wash, lotion, tissues, etc. That said, I rarely bring anything besides a comb, toothbrush and toothpaste anymore. I appreciated the availability of soap and shampoo but I missed not having hair conditioner. Also, there was body wash but no washcloths with which to use it. In addition, we had a full breakfast every morning which was a perfectly delicious start to our day! On our day of departure, we also appreciated that our luggage was stowed for us while we did our final sightseeing before catching a scheduled train to our next destination. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Copthorne Hotel!

Room was spacious and very clean. The evening meal was delicious. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The Station Hotel was a significant disappointment. We booked largely because of its reputation, awards and Michelin Guide association, and expected a much higher standard given the price. We booked a king room but were given a double instead. There was also mold in the shower (see photo). The hotel appears severely understaffed. We arrived at 5pm, after the advertised 4pm check-in, and nobody was at reception. We eventually found one staff member acting as bartender, server, receptionist and dishwasher. Reception was generally unattended throughout our stay, and we had to search for staff whenever we needed anything. Our confirmed reservation at Pagoda’s, the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant, was equally confusing. Staff were initially unsure whether it was open, and we were ultimately directed to Toots Cafe instead. Another family arrived expecting Pagoda’s and was similarly redirected. Dinner service was very poor. Staff appeared overwhelmed, and we had to ask for basic things such as water, menus and drinks. We both became unwell after dinner, although I cannot say with certainty that the food was responsible. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the renovation is impressive. Ann and Samantha at breakfast were also wonderful and provided the level of hospitality we had expected throughout the hotel. The rooms were clean and it was quiet and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wi-fi was useful. Location was good, close to main street union.

VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY PRO's:- Outside hotel lovely Staff very friendly and helpful, however were limited to what they could provide/offer - need more of them to cater for guests' needs better CONs:- Inside of hotel very tired, requires redecoration and maintenance Had booked a Deluxe King room - on website it states "spacious elegance, modern amenities and a sanctuary of comfort" - however faulty door locks, stained carpets, bathroom fittings broken, low stock of supplies in room so ran out, location of TV on wall dangerous (hit head several times when passing bottom of bed as room was small and difficult to move around in. Pool photographs on website looks clean and well maintained - it isn't, so avoided using it. Signage of a beauty service - enquired to book but told hadn't been available for some time. Breakfast was dreadful! Had to ask staff on several occasions to replenish items as there was very little or no stock, poor/no choices (couldn't even provide decaf coffee), when the cooked items eventually appeared they were over cooked and rock solid! SUMMARY:- Nice staff On Thainstone House Hotel's website (via Crerar) it states: "having carefully considered everything for a relaxed and comfortable stay"..... - I beg to differ! Our stay was absolutely awful. We booked a "Deluxe King Room with Full Breakfast" the price we paid certainly didn't reflect or justify this. Thainstone House Hotel is classed as 4 star, I would suggest this be regraded to 2 star.

Great location to Airport. Friendly fast check in . Clean and comfortable all around. Good menu and tasty . Breakfast all you need and more . Staff on hand if needed.
