Shady Spring Vacation Packages

Quiet place tucked away in the woods just outside of Marlinton. Pretty property. Breakfast is self-serve continental. Basic, nothing fancy. Good wifi and nice to have TV with a couple of free streaming services already set up. Musty smell in the common areas despite running fans and AC. Not much can be done about that though. Just the way it is in this area. You probably won’t see the innkeepers as they are off property and have key lock access codes when checking in.

Spacious, clean and comfortable. The little kitchenette was great for breakfast. Good restaurants nearby. We stayed in the main house, even though we were facing Main St with a busy restaurant below, our space was quiet. Highly recommended.

Beds were terrible. Upkeep was poor. Was dirty and the staff was not helpful. They didn’t share accommodations at check in or answer questions thoroughly. Pool was poorly maintained and cleaned. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Location was good. Restaurants close by. Parking lot in definite need of repair. Rooms need USB ports for charging. We also had trouble with room keys losing programming. Breakfast was good. Would stay there again

The WiFi was out our whole stay. Apparently it had been out a few days but they don’t tell you that when you check in. I complained after we got to our room but the response was “Tech support is working on it, there’s nothing more I can do”. Also the pool was closed. It was supposed to be open until September and it was Aug 28. I picked this place expecting a pool and WiFi. I complained to the front desk about the pool and this time I got “The manager is gone for the day. I’ll give her your name and room number and you can talk to her in the morning”. So we checked out at 10 am and the manager still wasn’t in to work. Also the bathtub was stained. And the cabinet around the refrigerator was all beat up and falling apart. And the carpets were dirty looking. Breakfast was typical and not anything special. Except for the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were well hidden under the eggs. I found them and enjoyed them but several people complained to me that they never saw them and had eaten something less appealing. The last annoyance was the cleaning staff knocking at the room next door and yelling questions. They were so loud I thought they were knocking on my door. And I had my do not disturb sign up. By the time I got to the door I was really annoyed. All in all the whole stay was disappointing. I would never go back.
