The room was clean. The staff were very nice, especially Larry. The pool area was clean and always stocked with towels. There were some crumbs in the pull out bed and a stain on the mattress. Our main complaint is that the breakfast food was not great. It was very low quality.

Yes, the breakfast was good & spread (choice's) was commendable. Staff was courteous. Room was clean. Pool was nice. The only drawback was the fact that the hotel needs a refurbishment to keep up with competition. Bathrooms, vanity's, carpets, etc Thank you!

Hotel Grinnell Downtown, an Ascend Collection Hotel
It was really cold, and I didn’t realize I needed to use a space heater. It was tucked away in the room and no one mentioned that there was no central heat. Also very loud and echoey, as you’d imagine from an elementary school. But it was really interesting architecturally.

Staff were great and the place was clean, but that’s where the positive review ends. It’s clear no maintenance had been done in decades. There were holes in the wall, the tub was torn up, the HVAC unit was broken, there were multiple unidentified stains, etc. I don’t expect much out a $55 room, but ...

Very poor room lughting. Hole in wall from bathroom door. Weird placement of outlets. No TV instrcutions and no TV schedule of programs. Window shade in disrepair. COULDNT get shower to work. No front desk help at 8:30 a.m.
