Disappointing Stay — Several Areas Need Improvement Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel did not meet the standard we expected. There were several issues involving both service and the condition of the room that significantly affected our experience. 1. Valet Service The attitude of some of the valet attendants came across as entitled and disrespectful. Professionalism and courtesy should be consistent, particularly in a guest-facing service. 2. Front Desk/Concierge The service at the front desk and concierge area felt uninterested and lacking in attentiveness. We did not feel that our concerns were treated with the level of urgency or customer service we would expect from a hotel of this standard. 3. Wet Carpet / Leaking Refrigerator The refrigerator in our room was leaking and left the carpet wet. Although the refrigerator was still running, the underlying issue was not properly addressed. A leaking appliance and wet carpet should be treated as a maintenance concern, especially when guests are occupying the room. 4. Very Thin Walls The walls provided very little sound insulation. We could clearly hear conversations and other noises from neighboring rooms, which made it difficult to relax and get proper rest. 5. Shower Door and Water Leakage The sliding glass shower door was noticeably crooked and did not close properly. As a result, water escaped from the shower area and accumulated around the toilet area. This is another maintenance issue that should have been corrected.

The location of this property is fantastic! Unfortunately, the beach was closed because of a sewage contamination. The parking is a challenge as the lot is very small. Our room was in fairly good shape, but the floors were filthy.

What a wonderful staff

Overall, the biggest strengths of this hotel are the location (centrally located in la jolla, next to shopping center, offices, hospital, short distance from USCD campus) and the views from higher floors. Hotel shows significant wear and tear everywhere. Furnishings are generally worn out. Bed sheets, towels are clean, but feel as though they've been through many drying cycles. Silverware and dishware in bar / dining area are heavily worn out too. Service had some highlights and low lights. Generally, staff try to be helpful where they can. I was able to extend stay when it was really helpful. On the other hand, basic amenities like slippers were missing from the rooms, and concierge wasn't able to help with it.
