Book Last-Minute Hotel Deals in Cincinnati
It’s hard to pigeonhole a city like Cincinnati. It’s an Ohio sports town, but it’s a far cry from Cleveland or Columbus. It’s along the Ohio River, but the river is technically owned by neighboring Kentucky. The city has more nicknames—The Queen City, The Blue Chip City, The City of the Seven Hills—than you can shake a spaghetti noodle at (more on that later).
But we say don’t try to label Cincinnati, just roll with it. And when you do, you’re going to find a city that is full of everything from classic to quirky. It’s time to bag one of our last-minute hotels in Cincinnati or make a proper vacation out of your trip by staying in a hotel with a pool in Cincinnati and see what this town is all about.
Raise a Pint (or Two): It’s not just that Cincinnatians love a proper pint (they do), but it’s also a toast to Ohio’s deep German heritage that runs right through Cincinnati. To really get a taste of those Rhine-infused roots, head to nearby Hofbrauhaus Newport for steins of the good stuff, served by staff decked out in traditional German attire. But if sipping on some hop-infused goodness with nothing but clouds overhead is your thing, then we say Rhinegeist’s views from their rooftop deck are calling.
Connect with the Quirky Side: The American Sign Museum is an Instagrammer’s dream with vintage neon signs from almost every era. For more photo fodder, check out the Mushroom House in Hyde Park, which is exactly what it sounds like. If you are staying at one of the hotels in downtown Cincinnati, then make sure to stop by the Capitoline Wolf statue in Eden Park. This iconic statue was gifted by Benito Mussolini (yeah, that one) in 1930.
Somewhere Over the Rai. . . err . . .Rhine: Over-the-Rhine (OTR) is one of Cincinnati’s most up-and-coming popular neighborhoods. Besides fascinating murals, you’ll also find all sorts of curio shops, restaurants, bars, and boutiques, all housed in intricate mid-century buildings. Make sure to schedule a stop at Sacred Beast for their ever-rotating menu, but trust us, it’ll be good.
Don’t Forget the Food: Cincinnati chili is one of the most divisive regional cuisines in the country. But don’t knock it until you try it. You can always get some Coneys (chili and cheese served up on a hot dog) or a three-way (chili and cheese on spaghetti) at chains like Skyline Chili. But if you want a more home-cooked style, then head to Camp Washington for their take. For the slightly more adventurous, try some goetta. What is it? Well, we don’t want to dissuade you in describing this spiced-meat concoction too much, but you need to try it.
So, what is Cincinnati? It’s classic. It’s quirky. And it’s waiting for you to discover it. Stay in a hotel in downtown Cincinnati near Paul Brown Stadium and enjoy America’s favorite pastime. Or stay in one of the hotels in downtown Cincinnati. This is a town that defies all labels. Come see for yourself.
